We like the idea of using a badger brush every time we shave—in theory. The reality is that sometimes shaving happens in a hurry. For those days (read: most), there’s this creamy, brushless formula, which offers the same rich lather experience without all the equipment.
My husband is prone to razor burn and ingrown hairs. He did not like this product because it did not provide enough of a buffer to allow the razor to glide smoothly across his skin.1
There's few shaving creams that can balance the comfort and easy while you're actually shaving. This product made it feel like I was barely touching skin with the razor. It also didn't clump up the hairs between blades, which is a major plus.5
This product makes saving smooth. The creamy feel leaves your face feeling smooth and hydrated.4
This shaving cream has a light scent that smells nice. It goes on smooth with no clumping and you can tell it's good for the skin. I've tried it twice and got a good shave each time. I just don't see myself dropping 30+ bucks on a shaving cream. A little bit on the expensive side there.4
I attempted to use this on a camping trip as the sample size was convenient, but I couldn't work up a sufficient lather/creaminess. It did the job but not to the satisfaction of a brush and cream.3
For the cost I would expect a much better shave. The product did not create any lather, and though it can be perfectly effective without foaming up, I felt that it did not provide a comfortable shave. There are better options out there for a luxurious shave.2
The fact that it mentions the ocean made me think it would at least remind me of it. This product did nothing for me that regular creams would for a fraction of the price1
It's just ok. The price is way too high for shave cream.3
I shave with a safety razor and straight. I do use a badger brush with AOS creams, proraso, and I have tried all of the classic T creams. I will say even though I have experience with a ton of good creams, this is surprisingly one of the closest, cleanest, irritation free creams I have ever used.
You don't need a brush with this cream which is kind of a waste for anyone who has already invested in good brushes, but even wet shavers who use brushes need creams that are good for "speed shaves," and this is definitely one of those creams. Since it is also a lotion type cream it is also transparent which is VERY nice for any shavers who maintain beards, chinstraps, etc.
Only major downside is this cream is more expensive than almost all of the top European creams and the overpriced AOS line.
I've received a decent amount of shaving creams from Birchbox. This one is not worth writing home about. It'd be nice if they provided a little more to try but I was only able to get one shave... talk about rationing. Anyways, from the shave I did have, I noticed this stuff applied a little thin. I'm not sure if shaving cream needs to be thick, but I expect a slight lather and this applied more like a thin lotion. I didn't have irritated skin afterwards, however, so perhaps I just have unreasonable expectations.3
