Old-world Paris was the inspiration for this complex fragrance. Featuring top notes of Italian bergamot, juniper, and black pepper, a heart of orange blossom, Florentine iris, and cinnamon, and a base of vetiver, vanilla, and yellow amber, it’s a cultured cologne for a cultured man.
I put on a small amount and my wife and kids started coughing and ran away lol they said it was very strong.1
Never heard if this brand before but I am intrigued to see what other fragrances they have based on this one. The best way to describe it is a classic, timeless scent that is reminiscent of days past brought into a modern era. It goes on smelling like cedar and woodsy with a sweet undertone.5
I have really enjoyed (and purchased) a number of BB scent samples (especially English Laundry), but as much as I liked this scent, it held up as a little too spicy for me (and my better half) I'll finish the sample, but stick to other scents.4
I'm very picky about cologne and always looking something that smells masculine without being too woodsy. This is a strong cologne without being overwhelming. Great smell, great staying power. One of the few colognes that my girlfriend loved on me.5
I wear different scents every day and it goes unnoticed. I wore this for the first time and got lots of compliments on it. Also convenient that I can travel with this size!4
I'm really picky and I was pleasantly surprised by the fresh smell5
1899 has a sweet, slightly oriental scent while still remaining masculine, making it great for those who don't wear cologne that often or who don't like the "generic" smell of men's cologne.5
I was impressed by how many people noticed the fragrance and complimented the smell. I must say this is my favorite one so far.5
This cologne was incredible and was probably my favorite sample of the January box. The mixture of the pepper and orange created zesty notes that complimented the cinnamon and vanilla well; yet the Italian bergamot combined with the juniper on the base of the vetiver gave it a subtle musk. It smelled great and I felt very confident knowing that was the scent got a whiff of in my wake.4
I really like this scent. It is fairly heavy in the tobacco tones, but the scent itself isn't that overwhelming, so I'm ok with it. It does remind me of walking into a Native American trading post, though. A very masculine scent.4
