Ernest Hemingway, exemplar of all things craggy and masculine, was the inspiration for this complex fragrance—but don’t expect notes of rum and tobacco. This is a cultured fragrance for a cultured man. Papa would approve.
I am not a fan of this product! I just don't like the smell. Love Hemingway, but why name a cologne after him? I know its supposed to be a "cultured" scent but really it gives me that old man feel.
my wife didn't like it. she wouldn't let me wear it. do i need to say more? i mean, really?
Unless you're 45+ this is NOT a good scent. Very mature scent and even so, I don't understand why older men find a need to wear scents that smell so musky.
My wife and I didn't care for the smell. Also, looks more expensive than I would pay for cologne.
I can't describe what this smells like, I hate to be so critical about a product but I honestly have to say I would never use this cologne. I was intrigued by the packaging and name of the product but very disappointed with the scent.
Not really a fragance kind of guy. It smells alright, but it's not something I'll use. It does seem strong, so if I every use it I will only need a small spray.
frankly it wa sa really weird smell. I guess everyone has their own scent, so this works for some. not this guy.
I really enjoyed this scent. It wasn't overpowering, and it was floral, but still masculine. On the whole, love it.
This is akin to bombing yourself with a mysterious musk from the deepest rain forest. The kind of musk that will draw strange and exotic birds to you, and have them attempting to mate with you instantly.
The downside is that I'm referring to birds in the literal sense, not so much the colloquialism in the British vernacular. An entire room of women was put off by this scent rather quickly, and this is unusual, as the existing scents I have are milder, and ... erm... don't "smell" as much.
A scent being a presence but not being "the" presence in the room is important, and the 1899 has a desire to rule the olfactory senses of everyone in a 50ft radius... only with one dispensing of it's essence.
smells old fashioned and terribly expensive for the smell!
