Ernest Hemingway, exemplar of all things craggy and masculine, was the inspiration for this complex fragrance—but don’t expect notes of rum and tobacco. This is a cultured fragrance for a cultured man. Papa would approve.
I enjoyed the scent. It's very masculine and right after spraying it I immediately felt more sophisticated, but underdressed, as a suit, tie, and smoking pipe would have been more appropriate attire to wear with this fragrance. With that said, it isn't worth the cost of the full bottle.3
I don't think anyone who uses this won't be happy. It has great base notes and I have not had any complaints5
so good that i almost dont want to say anything good about it because i dont want anyone else to know about it or wear it. i use it as part of a collection of 3 formal colognes. i would rank it just behind my jo malone for formal occasions and uniqueness... but as far as versatility in a pinch, this takes the title. I dont usually use my formal cologne in normal situations but if need be for whatever reason, this cologne has the versatility to pull it off. when you first spray it, its reminesent of grey flannel, the dark green one which i absolutely hate... but then it morphs into this wonderful and unique scent that hits all the right notes. it may be different for different body chemistries but its wonderful for me.5
I'm not quite sure how i feel about this scent. At first, i really liked it. It is a bit strong but faded nicely. But after a while, i could really smell the black pepper and it started to bother me. It's like the rest of the fragrance faded and the black pepper intensified. I could see how others would really enjoy this scent, but i don't think it worked particularly well with my body chemistry.3
A sumptuous, full scent. Very expensive though so I think that I will pass.5
Besides having received this in a prior Birchbox, and not digging it the first time, it just isn't the right kind of scent for me. Nor those whose opinions I asked...3
This has a great fragrance and will defiantly buy a full size!5
So I wear the same scent basically everyday for the last 2 years. I am very picky. I have recently been interested in looking for something new and then this was sent to me. I love it, it was exactly what I was looking for in a new scent. My girlfriend likes it a lot as well. Its a little pricey but I will be looking into buying it soon!5
This cologne smells amazing. No, seriously. Like, it's totally worth the $125 amazing. Received this in my husband's BB subscription and found it to be surprisingly universal. I dare call this scent "unisex" even. I've worn it a few times and can't get enough. I also feel given the high price tag, the fact that we can both wear it makes it a LOT more likely that we will purchase the full size. The cologne is a "parfum" so it is very potent (a little goes a long way) and the scent really lasts all day. I'm very impressed and can't wait to buy more once the sample runs dry. Swooning over this stuff!5
This should come with a warning label, do not spitz more than once. It does have a nice scent but could easily be overkill3
