When it comes to all things techy, we like our gadgets to score high marks in performance and design—and these earbuds stand out from the gray-scale pack. Made from reclaimed wood, the 100% electro-acoustic tested headphones pair superior sound quality with one-of-a-kind good looks. And, because each pair of headphones benefits a charity for the deaf, this is an accessory you can feel good about.
OK, I have been a subscriber for over a year now and I have to say I am always more pleased with the unique items in my box each month especially when they are accessories or things other than hair, facial products etc. I thought these ear buds were the coolest thing ever first off because I had never saw a wooden pair and they were just really cool. I guess it is unfortunate that they were so cool my 15 yr old son had taken them and has been rocking them forever. " Dad I have the coolest ear bids at our school, your birch box is awesome"
I love this product
As mentioned in several other reviews, anything rubbing against the cord will be heard in your ears (like a stethoscope). It's a shame, since the actual headphones have a nice, rich sound. I still use the headphones every once in a while, but would not recommend them at any price.1
I use headphones daily with my job. They don't hold up very well. Broke within a week. Way too expensive. Sound good though1
The product looks great and has a premium feel to it. But the in-ear concept doesn't work for me. I tried various tips but they vary from very uncomfortable to outright painful. And they don't stay in the ear canal. I've tried various methods based on online videos and articles but none worked.
This might be a great product for others but I can't rate it highly.
The right earbud no longer works. It's been, no exaggeration, two weeks of mild to moderate use. I've never had a set of headphones die this quickly.
Sound quality is fine, but perhaps they should have spent more time making them functional as opposed to making them look nice.
I should really like these headphones, in fact I do like a lot of things about them but unfortunately problems starting from the first time I used them have sullied my impression.
Starting with the positive- the size, weight and shape of the cherry wood of the ear-buds are great and anti-tangle material of the wires is a nice touch. I like the inclusion of an inline play/pause button and that it (mostly) works with iOS so I can call up Siri as needed. The microphone seems to pick up my voice decently well so I've been able to make calls using this headset. I'm no audiophile but the sound is rich and impressive for the size and price range. I'd put it somewhere between the Apple Earpods and the Shure SE210's I used to have.
Onto the negatives- the 3.5 mm RCA (minijack) connector has a sort of L shaped bend designed into it, I wouldn't care about this design wise but I've foudn that even small amounts of pressure on the upright portion of the L will cause my phone to think the play/pause button is being pressed. So this means if I've got my phone in my pocket, the normal jostle of walking or bending down to pick things up will pull up Siri or cause the random play, pause or skip behavior on whatever I'm listening to. I'd understand this (though still be frustrated) if I'd had these earbuds for months or years, but this behavior occured as soon as I'd pulled them out of the packaging and tried them out.
The second major negative is the durability- in my experience- earbuds have a penchant for latching on to door handles, handlebars- practically any protruding object that might possibly be a snag. The first time such a snag occured for me, the earbuds were pulled out of my ears and fell to the ground. This has occured many times for me with other headsets- it's annoying but was never a probem. With these LSTN earbuds, the protrusion which the plastic ear insert sits on chipped off. The earbud is still usable but now the insert falls off easily.
If it weren't for the beformentioned durability and buggy behavior- these would be some of the better earbuds I've had. I'd be even happier with the inclusion an iOS compatible volume rocker- hint hint.
These sound and look pretty good, but they're missing the basic audio controls to skip to the next song etc, so compared to my default iPhone earbuds, they're kinda pointless.2
One of the best items I've received in a birchbox. Aesthetically speaking, these are great looking earphones. The cherry wood looks gorgeous and feels great. The nylon cord doesn't tangle easily and is longer than most earphone cables, which is quite useful. Functionally they do their job pretty well. The bass response from these isn't remarkable, but it's definitely better than my iphone earphones. They also come with a microphone and a play/pause button, which makes them a very competent replacement for your stock iphone earphones. All in all, I would recommend this product5
1) Looks awesome (the wooden look is pretty cool)
2) I like what the company supports - check out their website.
1) Fit - maybe I don't really like how regular earphones fit because I have been spoiled with earphones that mold into your ears... but fit is okay. At least it doesn't fall out of my ears.
2) Comfort - subpar.
3) Sound - Mediocre. I don't hear static noises, at least.
Overall thought: I think this is okay to purchase as a second set of earphones... it's a bit pricey for what it offers IMO.
I am a huge fan of anything wood. Such a classy look. The sound in the phones are amazing too. Little expensive but worth the sound & style.5
