Like a weatherworn traveler coming in from the cold, this fragrance exists in a state of change. Inspired by Russian winters, love affairs, and the fiery novels of Alexander Pushkin, its aroma evolves from a crisp, citrus opening to a warm, woodsy finish. The result is a unique scent that’s made to inspire memories, whether you’re sitting by the fire, or off for a wintry walk.
I was expecting a nice masculine smell, but this ended up being extremely feminine and floral. Pass.1
I'm not sure if this really is considered "perfume" (it was a sample in this month's Birchbox Man), however I thought the scent was decent. I found it to not be overpowering and my wife liked the smell of it. I probably won't go out of my way to buy the full sample since I didn't think it was anything special. Not bad, but not great either.3
While I did't love this, it wasn't bad. Just not a great match for me personally.4
I was excited to see a new fragrance in my box yesterday, and the Arquiste Aleksandr is easily my favorite fragrance I've sampled through Birchbox. It's astoundingly subtle, mature, and complex, without smelling at all chemical-like.
It's probably worth its high price point -- sadly, that is far more than I am willing to pay for a fragrance (the $165 price point for a 1.85oz full size is about twice what I usually pay for a 3.4oz of my normal fragrances).
Also, when I wore it out to a party last night I noticed it didn't last the evening -- seems to fade pretty completely over a couple hours.
Tried this fragrance a couple days now, it's quite nice. The writeup would have you think you would sprout a full beard with a single application, but the scent in my opinion is a bit sweet. My fiancee said she liked it, though also remarked it smelled a bit feminine. Lovely sample, glad to have it to mix things up, but won't be purchasing (especially considering the $165 price tag).4
A bit pungent, the smell just isn't for me. Too much leather, not enough sweet1
This product just isn't for me. It's exceedingly feminine and I wasn't expecting it in my box.3
This fragrance was way too overpowering and smells like it was made for an old man. Being in my 20s this is definitely not the product for me.1
with the sweet scent of powdery latex gloves and Sensidine, as well as a scent of a Bob Evans Restaurant and their patronage during a dinner rush on the hottest day of the summer in New Orleans. Wow. Just picture that for a minute. Sweaty, fat, old people, and old people products all mixed together and finely packaged so arquistely.2
