Birchbox Breakdown

When we heat style our hair, we’re usually thinking how we’ll need to make up for frying it now with therapeutic masks and air dry days down the road. Not so with this innovative flatiron: It actually conditions our hair as it styles, thanks to a removable cartridge filled with agave-loaded infusion. The flatiron vaporizes the nourishing infusion and seal it into our hair as it works, for smooth, silky, healthy-looking strands—and no heat styling guilt.

How to Use

First, release the cartridge from the iron and open the seal. Fill cartridge with Vapor Infusion via the larger hole and replace seal. Replace cartridge and use settings according to hair type: low for fine hair, medium for normal hair, and high for coarse hair. Iron your hair in small, two-inch sections, starting at near the roots and following through to ends. Please note that the iron’s maximum temperature is 420°F.

I love my Agave!

For those with unruly curly and frizzy hair like myself, this steaming agave iron is a great investment. I truly do own one of these brilliant irons and I'll be the first to say at first i thought it was a scam. So like any product i really want to try out, i youtube'd videos and read many reviews before finally caving in and buying it. When I first tried this I was a slight disappointed that as I was flat ironing my hair the cartridge began to leak. I immediately called the Agave number provided on the website and customer service quickly replaced the cartridge. Meanwhile during my first wear out on the town ( after flat ironing my humidity loving hair) I had no frizz. Not kidding, Not joking, I was astonished!!! Since I don't flat iron my hair after I have initially straightened my hair out , I was more impressed with the actual Agave oil that helps to keep the hair moisturized and shiny. This i purchased at Ulta but within the same line of products. I am so glad that I made this purchase and because it was so expensive, I let NO ONE use it lol. The plates are smooth and hair snags are pretty much nonexistent depending on how I am holding the flat iron. I do know that the lady from customer service said to me I did not need to use the steaming feature every time I flatten my hair ( i assume she meant after the initial ironing) for which I dont do anyways....Just know this is a GREAT investment, AGAVE is a great product for your skin and hair as well all on its own, just do the research and you too will see.

Great flatiron for very thick, wavy hair
Purchased

I bought this flatiron to replace a Chi. I was wary because of the oil, but it has proven to be the best thing ever for my hair. On the recommendation of my stylist, who coincidentally bought the same iron around the time I did, I use it with the oil on days I am styling after a full shampoo and without the oil on days I am just doing touch-ups. It straightens beautifully and quickly and makes hair really shiny and smooth while somehow not depleting my hair of body altogether. I am now wearing a layered bob that I don't think I could pull off without such a good product. Downside - sometimes the oil leaks out a bit - just have something handy to wipe it off and don't fill it up too much. Also, the blades are a bit thicker than I would like - perhaps they can make two versions?

ehh.. not good so far
Purchased

I just received this straightener and used it for the first time this weekend. On my first go, I'm not too happy with it. My hair gets caught in the plates of the straightener, sometimes making them more curly and wiry than before running the plates over my hair. The vapor feature is a little hard to get used to. I kept questioning whether it was even working because it seemed to only release vapor when I set my straightener on the counter to grab another chunk of hair. I'm going to give it another try before I decide to return it.
