Nicole and Gina, co-founders of Brooklyn-based startup LAQA & Co. wanted to make life easier for the girl on-the-go. Their first product, a pen containing high-gloss nail polish, allows users to manage their manicures anywhere (even on rollicking NYC subways!); their second product, a jumbo lip gloss pencil in a range of fresh-looking shades, requires no sharpener. Even better, the beauty brand’s products combine this convenience with altruism: Its product packaging is commissioned from emerging artists located around the world. Artists receive valuable exposure and support (including a percentage of profits from each sale), and consumers learn about accessible art and alternative role models.
