In 1912, widowed mother Sofi Tucker started selling shea nuts at a market in Sierra Leone to provide for her four kids. It turned into a small line of shea butter, African black soap, and handmade hair and skin products that became the buzz of the countryside thanks to the intensely moisturizing, natural, and organic formula. Fast-forward over a century later, her grandchildren keep Sofi’s legacy alive with SheaMoisture, which continues to use good-for-you ingredients found only in nature.
