Birchbox Breakdown

We’re all guilty of the occasional pimple-squeezing session. To make things worse, we use our fingers to perform the function. Not only is that an easy way to introduce new bacteria, but we’re practically asking for an acne scar. The good news? A little DIY facial work is okay if we use the right tools. This double-sided, no-slip skin care tool works to eliminate blackheads and whiteheads in a flash, leaving you with smooth skin.

How to Use

Open pores by taking a steamy shower or using a hot washcloth. For white heads, gently glide the angled wire over the trouble spot to release debris from the pore. For blackheads, use the opposite side’s long, flat loop to gently press out the gunk. Clean tool and skin before and after use.

Good for what it is
Purchased

There are a lot of disappointed reviews on here that the tool didn't work as they had hoped. This is a very high quality tool that works quite well for what it is. This isn't going to work on blemishes where the whitehead hasn't come up to the surface and isn't going to magically extract all blackheads if you don't take the time to properly steam your face and slowly work your skin.

That being said, I have still found that the shape of the narrower rounded side could be improved for maximum extraction. I can't ever seem to find a good angle for it to be effective. I prefer the flatter side for both whiteheads and blackheads as I feel it is more gentle and effective.

BE SURE TO STERILIZE BETWEEN USES!! I keep cotton balls and rubbing alcohol nearby to clean between each press on the skin. If I am able to pop a rather large blemish I will use the rubbing alcohol to gently dab the skin as well to disinfect. So far I have not experienced any redness after the fact except for the 20 minutes or so immediately after use.

So helpful!
Purchased

I'm the quintessential example of a picker -- and although we all know its a bad habit I cant help it. I use this tool as soon as I get out of the shower if I have any blackheads or whiteheads and it leaves zero scaring or marks. The worst part is a slight indent from the tool but it fades pretty quickly.

I have been wanting one of these tools for a while. They are more expensive in stores so I am glad I found this on birchbox.

Great tool
Purchased

So this is not something anyone like to discuss....but this is a great tool when you've got that blemish that just needs to be taken care of. Much cleaner and gentle than your fingers.

Just Okay
Purchased

This works just okay. It is better if you let the shower steam up the bathroom before you use it. I had pretty good luck on getting rid of the blackheads, but I feel like it made a few of the other blemishes worse. Make sure you sterilize it after each use!

Really helps get my blackheads
Purchased

I have never seen one of these tools until I saw someone use it in a YouTube video. I get a ton of blackheads and this really helps me get them, I love this tool, it's kind of gross but let's be real, blackheads are gross. Definitely better then using bare hands.

decent product
Purchased

not really sure what i expected, but it is handy at times. i thought the "loops" would be more fine/wirelike instead of wider. it is fine to have it on-hand, but not something you cant live without, or would use every day. does a decent job on acne.

Not a fan

Maybe I'm not using these right but I didn't have any luck with these. I don't use it at all anymore. I wouldn't waste the money.

Hurts a little
Purchased

Also I wish it came with instructions. It doesn't seem to be that complicated of a tool but I am having some difficulty getting to the black heads around my nose. I think it's handy to have for the occasional trouble spot.

Really thick metal
Purchased

I was hoping that the smaller side wouldn't be so think. You really have to push down into your skin to make it work. Maybe I'm using it wrong but I'm not impressed.
