This fragrance opens with a blast of citrus, clove, and cardamom. It catches most off guard. It has an almost medicinal opening. From there the cinnamon works it's way into the picture as the citrus fades and adds warmth and spice to the sweetness of the clove. From there it deepens to a base of sandalwood, patchouli, and labdanum. Cloves are still going strong here but at this point the woods and cinnamon are making this smell like a spicy slightly sweet fragrance. A woman who got a whiff of me while wearing this (after burying her face in my neck a second time for a fragrance double take after a hug) described this fragrance as it settles perfectly. Toasted vanilla and cedar. No cedar is not one of the notes but the way the sandalwood and the musky labdanum mix with cinnamon it smells like cedar under vanilla. Dominique Ropion does it again.
