This perfume is great stuff. I'm glad that Birchbox is pushing this towards males because it's usually marketed towards women. Personally, I don't think fragrance should be gendered but this is certainly an ambiguous, mysterious scent that will smell equally good on you and your girlfriend...or boyfriend :) Amber predominates, a smoky, almost incense like amber. There's some floral notes in there, hibiscus and jasmine, and I think the jasmine sticks out the most, but it isn't a loud jasmine like you would smell in Thierry Mugler's Alien (a far more feminine floral). Sandalwood is mentioned in the note pyramid but I don't smell it. What ties it all together is patchouli, which adds to the smoky incense vibe and gives the fragrance an almost 80's era 'powerhouse' vibe. It's interesting, smoky, sexy, unique, and as a collector of perfumes (I have around 50 bottles at any given time), I can tell you that this draws compliments like few things I own. You won't smell like everyone else. What occasions can you wear this to? I'm gonna say this is a date night/clubbing/romantic evening fragrance. I wouldn't recommend this for work (unless you are a woman) or to freshen up after the gym because it just isn't that sort of 'fresh' fragrance. Also, in extremely hot weather it could become cloying so it's more of a fall/winter scent. But if you wear it in those guidelines you will find a fragrance that is evocative of the night, full of mystery, romance, and intrigue. I highly recommend this for everyone, man, woman, and everyone in between!
