Neutral polishes are incredibly versatile and, unlike say, siren red, they’re easy to apply yourself. Keep them around at all times and to extend their shelf life, Lippmann suggests storing them in the fridge.

Birchbox Breakdown

Sometimes the simplest things are the most difficult to find, like the perfect neutral nail polish. Versions that are too opaque quickly show chippage, while shades that are very white can be too much of a contrast against your skin—even if you’re pale. Enter Deborah Lippmann’s Naked, which just feels very, well, au natural. (With a name like that, go figure.) Completely effortless, this barely-there beige gives your nails a lovely shine and the subtle pinky undertones look oh-so feminine.

How to Use

This color is very translucent, so make sure you remove any previous polish fully before using. Apply two coats and allow drying time between each. Great for layering, use it over any other opaque polish to add a pale pink hue.

The Perfect Nude!

I have spent so much time and money trying to find a pretty nude that would look nice on my pale but yellow toned skin. Nothing ever looked right, and usually made me look dead or too sallow, until I tried this! It is so pretty and understated, neutral, but with just enough pink/peach to work. This is my go to for a simple manicure. A quick coat or two makes it look like I spent an hour at the nail salon.

I love this color!

Its such a sweet and simple color, nothing flashy, goes great with everything. Stays on smooth for a long time. I have not had any issues with chipping.

Wears well, sophisticated bare color

Ever since I bought Deborah Lippmann's Lara's Theme last summer, when those orangey-reds were all the rage, her polishes have been at the top of my go-to list. Her polishes have a formulation that goes on smoothly, dries quickly, and dries smoothly. I also find them to wear extremely well when paired with a bottom coat and top coat (otherwise they chip more easily...wonder why). This is no mean feat considering the fail testing I put them to as a mechanical engineer in the urban jungle.

The nude, Naked hue does not fail to disappoint. I love it for the winter, when I'm more adventurous with my make up color palette and accessorizing in general, and bold nails would be a little too much. Naked provides a subtle color that is not my grandmother's nude shade. Love it.

very nice quality

paints really well and doesn't smell too bad, a bit pricey for the size, but worth it for a good manicure.
