I have hair that can't seem to decide what it wants to be - wavy or curly! I loved this product, and was surprised to find that it actually does what it says it will do. I put it on my wet hair upside down like the instructions say, and then it did get crunchy while it dried. But once my hair is fully dry, the product doesn't feel crunchy after I've run my hands through my hair a few times. I've got nice happy wavy curls!
I use the Deva line of shampoos and conditioners on my ultra curly hair. I like that it's crispy when it dries. It keeps my hair where I want it. A simple scrunch releases the crispy feeling if you choose to. It does what it claims to do and it works.
The best of gels for curls!
While I'm not a huge fan of using gel in my curls (I prefer my curls to be a bit looser, more like waves rather than coiled and defined) this is my go-to for maintaining your natural curl. I love that while it can feel crunchy in the beginning when you slather it on your ends, when your hair dries and you scrunch your curls, the gel releases and you're left perfectly coifed and free of residue or stickiness! Definitely the perfect curl gel!
Devacurl is by far my favorite brand for my curls.
I believe I have tried pretty all the Devacurl products and have not been disappointed in any of the products Devacurl offers. I use the Ultra defining gel in the morning when my hair is wet. I then use a diffuser to dry my hair. I have beautiful curls with volume that last my entire day.
This wasn't the perfect answer I was hoping for. It works okay, but my thick coarse wavy/curly hair is still poofy and frizzy after using. I used for a couple months and applied in different ways in order to try to find a method that worked. (They definitely mean it when the instructions say to apply to wet hair. When I tried to tame a few frizz flyaways on dry hair it made my hair dull, and didn't tame anything.) Unfortunately, never found the perfect secret and went back to my previous gel that is not perfect, but better.
