According to legend, Elizabeth Arden used this rich balm as a soothing ointment on her thoroughbred horses’ legs.

Elizabeth Arden

Birchbox Breakdown

Elizabeth Arden’s apricot-hued cream is such a classic, we think it deserves a display in the Smithsonian. Developed in 1930 by the beauty maven herself, the award-winning formula enjoyed instant global success and has never gone out of style. The creamy, multi-purpose salve not only hydrates dry skin, it adds shine to lips and lids, tames unruly brows, conditions cuticles, and even soothes minor scrapes and sunburns.

How to Use

The sky’s the limit. Apply a generous amount onto skin to combat dryness, sunburn, or redness anytime and anywhere. Or dab a small amount onto brows to keep unruly hairs in line; smooth onto lips, cheekbones, and lids for a glossy, fresh-off-the-runway look; massage into dry cuticles and rough heels; or use as a post-shave treatment.

This is one of my absolute favorite products in the whole world. I put it on every night and it really prevents hang nails and makes my hands feel so nice in the morning. Birchbox should offer the corresponding 8 hour lip treatment which is equally as amazing.

A True Classic

This skin protectant is a tried and true thing. I actually love the scents that Elizabeth Arden puts out, this cream included. Given our harsh, New England winters, I love this as a balm for my lips and wind-burned face. It's also good for cuticles and heels. Very multi-purpose. I'm a fan!

I accidentally put my review for this amazing cream under the hand cream! It should have been left here! Exceptional stuff! Great for lips, hands, elbows ... Wherever dry skin is, this stuff will conquer!

A beauty classic

My mom always had this with her. She uses it on cuts and burns and sunburned areas. However, she never used it as a moisturizer. Seriously, though, this is pretty thick and extremely hydrating and kinda greasy, which would most likely make your face break out if you use it as a facial moisturizer. My lips have been extremely chapped the past few days, so I thought I should put some of the product on my lips to rehydrate them overnight. It unfortunately didn't work as well as usual, and so that's why I took off a star. My lips are still really chapped despite repeated applications... Other than that, this is a great product. My only other note is that there are many similar products for less money that work about the same in my opinion.

dissapointed
Purchased

This is basically a tube of a&d ointment.... exactly like the generic brand I smear on my babies butts for diaper rash. Don't get me wrong, it works well as lip balm, for dry patches and diaper rash, but it is WAY over priced for what it actually is. On the other hand, pulling out a tube of Elizabeth Arden skin cream instead of generic A&D ointment does look much fancier.

The greatest all-in-one

I am so happy Birchbox carries this cream now, I've always had to get it from Amazon. You read so many amazing reviews of this cult classic and don't believe how great it is until you've tried it. It's heavy, on doubt about it, but worth it. With these harsh NYC winters, I put it on almost every night over serum, and although it's thick, by morning your skin will guaranteed be softer than any other moisturizer. But it gets better: use it on your hands, cuticles, feet. Not sticky, and no bad smell.

Rename it. not a daily face moisturizer.

I was surprised how thick and greasy this was. I thought it would be a face lotion type cream. I think it is for very chapped times. For lips when they are very chapped. It is very expensive. Quality but I think it should be renamed.

Great product
Purchased

It's a great product. It does moisturize and everything is says it will do. My only problem is I bought the product thinking it would be a cream..like it said, but it actually is more of a Vaseline than a lotion or cream so it's oily. I use it at night rather than during the day because it is oily and gets everywhere if you aren't cautious.
