Let me open by saying how surprised I was to see that the sample size (0.11oz) was so close to the full size (0.19oz) product. Super value, for a sample-box product!
Now that I've had a day to fully inspect the product, there's a gentle curve to the Anastasia brush that makes it a snap to apply the clear formula. In order to look that closely at the brush, I had it practically under my nose, and noticed a slightly sharp chemical odor from the product that was off-putting, especially when you consider that it's going so close to the eyes, but reading further into the manufacturer description, I realized it's just the paraben waxes. No big deal, and really, a necessary part of the product when you want a big, glossy, waterproof finish with great separation.
Which is EXACTLY what this product delivers. I applied it over a generi-store non-waterproof mascara after I let it dry for a couple minutes; my eyes are too sensitive to go from poking with Wand A right to poking with Wand B. Two coats of the Anastasia, a quick wait for drying, and then the same splash-test I did when I got the sample Mermaid Box: A little bit of warm water, and a little bit of cold water. No smears, no running, nothing. None of my mascara budged. I know the product says it's waterproof right away, but I still can't think of a situation where you're going to put the product on and then literally, immediately, be wet-in-the-eyes. Even in an emotional situation, makeup is 99% preparation; this is an application-first product. It would reasonably have time to dry before being put to the test.
As a final bonus, it's got true all-day staying power, really. It didn't fade in my initial test, even after repeated splashing and standing over a hot stove, in steam, BUT, it didn't fight my makeup remover too badly, either. (That honor was reserved for my eyeliner!) I'm absolutely buying the full-size once I run out of my itty-bitty.
