I really wanted to like these. I'm a sucker for reds and mattes. Application was painful and for so little color payoff/pigment. Right away, I knew woo had to go back. It may be a combination of the formula and my skin tone, but it is not a true red, it was warm/orangey. That would not be a problem, but the color / product had the effectiveness of a crayola crayon. After multiple applications, it still wasn't showing up as I desired. Raz seemed ok, so I thought I would keep it. But I tried it again last night and had to go over my lips, pressing firmly, and I still wasn't pleased with the look.
I wished these worked for me but both will have to go back.
not so good
this lipstick was very dry, although the color was pretty. went on rough. i will not be purchasing another product from this company.
Nice color but not a wow
Good value for this cute little lipstick - but nothing new here. Would have liked a more sheer look. Too heavy for me but will use it.
Milan: Way TOO Bright
I purchased this lipstick in the shade Milan. I watched a video where one of the Birchbox editors was wearing the shade, and on her it look like a bright pink with blue undertones. It looked like it was more like Mac's Girl About Town. It turned out to be a CRAZY hot pink that was may more barbie than Girl About Town. I think the color would like nice on fair skin with light hair or for anyone that likes Nicki Minaj-esque lips. It was just too bright for me. I wish Birchbox would have swatches or describe the shades. The shades look nothing like what's online. And as far as the formula, it wasn't a smooth application, it dragged acrossed the lips. It catches any lines or flakes in your lips, so make sure you exfoliate and use balm.
I bought this lipstick in rosey. It was a lot brighter pink than it looked online but that turned out ok because the shade looked awesome with my skin tone (fair with red undertones). It is one of those long lasting matte lipsticks that kind of dries out your lips but it goes on pretty smooth and doesn't feather into cracks. I would suggest wearing a moisturizing lip primer or lip balm underneath it but it does last a long time.
