Like any work of art, your manicure starts with a blank canvas—but the end result is a reflection of pure personal style. These color-tinted top coats help transform the appearance of your polish, whether the sheer tints are worn alone, applied over other colors, or layered for an ombré effect. Progressive style yields progressive results.
The top coat I received had an orange-y tone to it which I liked until I put it on top of another polish color. I had used a light pink nail polish and this top coat on top of it made it this strange sickly pink color. My sister also used it on top of a grey colored polish and hers and had to take it all off because of the color it turned.
I haven't used it on it's own, but I'm sure that would look fine. The orange just hasn't worked much with other colors.
Pretty much every product from OPI I have used has never let me down and that includes this product! I actually like the look of this better alone rather than on top of a nail polish color. The tint of the top coat gives your nails just enough tint to let people notice how pretty and shiny your nails are.5
I think this is a fun top coat in terms of the sheer color--in terms of the top coat itself, it's not my favorite. It chips for me after just a couple of days. If you paint your nails often enough that it's not an issue, this would be great.3
This tinted top coat is a lot of fun. Adds a hint of color to nude nails for an unexpected twist. Also serves as an effective top coat to prevent chips.4
I received the violet and tried it alone, over a black glittery polish, and over a nude one. In every case, it was a lot of fun, applied well, and didn't seem to affect the wear of the polish.5
I finally got around to using this product this morning as I received it as a sample from my February Birchbox. I just got a pedicure yesterday so I like to put on another topcoat to keep my pedi lasting a little bit longer. Since there was no indications on the bottle that it was a “tint” base coat I put it on over my fresh polish and to my horror my color went from a greyish purple to an orangish purple. YUCK! Not something that I will ever use again. I will stick with my Essie products moving forward.1
I received the light pink color, loved it. I was wearing alone or as top with others color. my favorite was wearing it alone it gave that light pink color.5
I normally love OPI and thier products but this tint was disappointing for me. It seems like it would work well if you are using it for a design but not just as a tint on regular nails. Maybe the red one I received would work as a base on a French tip or something? I would not purchase.1
Received this in a surprise sample pack. It was awful. I knew it would be different, but this was just terrible. The polish was old and already a little gel-y and sticky. It did not go on smooth at all. I looked like a 5 year old painted my nails. Through it away immediately.1
Pun intended. I LOVE this product. I use it over my nail polish when it starts to turn dull and it glosses it right up and stays on like nothing I have seen before. You REALLY have to work harder than with regular nail polish to get it off which is great for me as I am hard on my nails.5
