Let's just say, if you need to totally dry out your face, this will do the trick. My skin is acne prone and oily in T-zone, I tried this based on the description of mattifying and treating redness. So, I used small amount only on T-zone one day, and small amount all over my face the next. I am still recovering. I've never had super dry skin, but I now sympathize with those who do. I am on day 4 of trying to heal my angry, red, dry flakiness this caused my skin. It feels like a really bad sunburn and any lotion I try to use burns like fire on my cheeks and sides of nose.
So - yes, the product dries the skin, possibly it will dry up acne as well, but using as a primer, no I won't do that again. I was going to toss it, but may use as a spot treatment for acne. After looking at the back, it does say if redness or dryness occurs to discontinue use...so I don't see how this can "calm redness" in any way whatsoever.
