When EVE LOM launched her cleansing balm over twenty-five years ago, Vogue called it “possibly the best cleanser in the world.” A few decades later, it remains the brand’s number one top seller and a favorite of skincare-obsessed ladies in the UK. The botanical formula takes off all traces of makeup and dirt. Plus, it comes with a finely woven muslin cloth to help you exfoliate as you cleanse. We only wish we’d been using it for the past 25 years (hey, better late than never, right?).
I tried the sample and liked the way it made my skin feel, so I bought the full size jar. I really liked the idea of the muslin cloth and I have actually kept the cloth and used it with other products, but I have stopped using the cleanser. After a week of using it morning and evening it made me break out. Not pimples but more a rash. I think I must be allergic to something in it. I use just natural products on my face so I guess there was something in it that maybe did not agree with me.3
this cleanser felt heavy and waxy-not light and my face did not feel very clean at all after using this sample....3
nice but im not sure if it nice enough to buy full price. I really didnt like the smell. I felt that it was too strong. As far as to cleaning, it seemed to clean off all the dirt and makeup.3
First of all the only reason I give this 3 stars is because it is expensive. Having said that, this is quite possibly the best cleanser I have ever used. Only a small amount of the cleanser is needed and it has a gorgeous luxurious consistency. The muslin cloth exfoliates beautifully. I saw a difference in my skin after literally ONE USE. Somehow it reduced the redness around my nose, my pores appeared smaller, my face felt so smooth and it even made my sun-spot (the bane of my existence) less noticeable! I could have put on a little mascara and felt totally comfortable leaving the house! If you can afford it, by all means GET THIS! I myself will have to save for a bit but I WILL be buying some when I can. I don't usually feel the need to write reviews but after using this sample I just had to tell everyone about it!3
This product was just OK for me. I have certainly tried better. I do, however feel that it is above average. I would rather use this than the run of the mill cleanser at the local supermarket. I have very sensitive skin and have to watch what I use. I think there may have been something in it that just did not agree with my chemistry.3
Not enough product to sample. I have finicky skin, and there is no way to test a product with two-days worth of sample. Also wasn't sure if the technique or expensive cleanser would be responsible for any benefit my skin saw. Would have to test the technique with other cleanser.3
It does the job, and cleaned the makeup off well, though the texture is very thick and I never quite felt like I had got it all off my face even if I knew I had. A little bit too oily for my skin, I think.3
While the cleanser worked great, I just couldn't handle the smell. It just smelled rancid to me, and that really put me off using it. I tried using the sample that I got on more than one try, but I just couldn't take the smell. It's a shame, because I really liked this thick cleanser, and it felt great on my skin however, I ended up throwing away the sample I received.
This cleanser had a wonderful citrus-woodsy scent and left my face feeling clean and moisturized. However, the suggested application with the muslin cloth and multiple applications with different temperatures of water was a deal-breaker for me.4
This stuff smells great and made my skin feel nice. The process is lengthy but I like using the muslin cloth. If it were a little cheaper, I would buy it for sure. Having only used the sample, I'm not sure what long term benefits you may get out of it?4
