Some mornings we’re feeling so sluggish, we’re loath to let go of our coffee even to hop in the shower. (If it gets watered down, we can just call it an Americano, right?) For those days—or anytime our morning could use an extra pick-me-up—this java-loaded scrub is just the thing. The blend of Kenyan coffee beans and nourishing oils exfoliates and hydrates, leaving skin renewed and ready for the day ahead: Think of it as skincare’s version of espresso.
At first I was skeptical about smelling like coffee after a shower, but this exfoliating scrub pleasantly surprised me. It takes a little effort to get the scrub to spread smoothly, but there is no need to exfoliate vigorously - a light scrub will do the trick. The coffee smell is very apparent in the shower while you're using it, but after rinsing the scrub off the smell does diminish and settles into a pleasant fragrance that doesn't scream 'COFFEE!.'
I did end up purchasing the full size (albeit not from Birchbox) and have noticed a nice change in rough spots on my skin. I'd recommend it!
Exfoliating yes. Good sample size no. Not enough to get one leg done3
This is a wonderful exfoliant, and it's even better if you are hooked on coffee as I am!5
I am a coffee drinker but don't think I like coffee as skincare. Something about the smell bothered me. Good concept, wish I'd liked it.2
I bought nyakio™ Kenyan Coffee Body Scrub because I liked the sample but when I got the full size I didn't work very well. It needs to have move coffee beans in it to get more of an exfoliating effect.3
I liked the product best I could tell but would not buy based on the sample size was too small to really be able to tell if I would want to pay the price for the product. I did like the smell and texture of the scrub and what areas I used it on it left the skin feeling smooth.3
I like this scrub. It is an excellent exfoliating cleanser. I love the fact that it does have coffee beans in it.3
Nyakio Kenyan Coffee Body Scrub has to be the most genius thing, ever. For all my fellow coffee lovers, this is a little slice of heaven!5
I was really excited initially to try a coffee scrub but was severely disappointed. It was kinda just gross. I might exfoliate alright but it isn't worth it. The grounds mostly just stick in one place or fall to the shower floor. And the smell (and I love the smell of coffee) is not good. I'll stick to drinking my coffee, thanks.1
I don't know what I was expecting -- because it has coffee it's going to wake me up in the morning? No, not so much. It works well to soften your skin like any body scrub. I don't care too much for the fragrance. I like coffee but I don't necessarily want to smell like a coffee bean. So, although the results were good, there was nothing outstanding enough about the product to entice me to go out and buy the product.3
