Some mornings we’re feeling so sluggish, we’re loath to let go of our coffee even to hop in the shower. (If it gets watered down, we can just call it an Americano, right?) For those days—or anytime our morning could use an extra pick-me-up—this java-loaded scrub is just the thing. The blend of Kenyan coffee beans and nourishing oils exfoliates and hydrates, leaving skin renewed and ready for the day ahead: Think of it as skincare’s version of espresso.
The main reason I bought this product was because I was expecting it to have a coffee smell, which I thought was unique for a body scrub. However, this smells NOTHING like coffee, and the smell of it actually makes me kind of nauseous. I think the oils in the product completely overpower any coffee smell. Not to mention, the coffee bits like to get stuck all around my shower curtain and drain. Pretty bummed that I wasted my Birchbox points on getting the full-size without sampling it first.2
Not as bad as the face scrub, but super strong! Decent scrubbing though. Just not a fan. Would rather drink coffee than use it as a scrub.2
I tried this body scrub the other day and did not think there was anything special about it. It does not have a strong coffee smell and the coffee grains are uneven in size. It did not exfoliate as well as a regular plastic body sponge. Only plus is that it does not dry out or irritate my sensitive skin.2
I think my favorite part of this was the coffee smell in the shower. It did a decent job of exfoliating but I've used better.3
When used in a small circular rotation the scrub did wonders to slough off the dry skin leaving my skin ready for a good cleanse and hydration. Very happy with this product - Want to use in my salon for body wraps.5
At first I was skeptical about smelling like coffee after a shower, but this exfoliating scrub pleasantly surprised me. It takes a little effort to get the scrub to spread smoothly, but there is no need to exfoliate vigorously - a light scrub will do the trick. The coffee smell is very apparent in the shower while you're using it, but after rinsing the scrub off the smell does diminish and settles into a pleasant fragrance that doesn't scream 'COFFEE!.'
I did end up purchasing the full size (albeit not from Birchbox) and have noticed a nice change in rough spots on my skin. I'd recommend it!
Exfoliating yes. Good sample size no. Not enough to get one leg done3
This is a wonderful exfoliant, and it's even better if you are hooked on coffee as I am!5
I am a coffee drinker but don't think I like coffee as skincare. Something about the smell bothered me. Good concept, wish I'd liked it.2
I bought nyakio™ Kenyan Coffee Body Scrub because I liked the sample but when I got the full size I didn't work very well. It needs to have move coffee beans in it to get more of an exfoliating effect.3
