After we color our hair, we worry about washing our new hue into oblivion. To avoid that brassy, faded, too-long-since-the-salon look, we can now prep our strands before we shampoo with this lightweight pre-wash primer. The oil-based formula seals the hair shaft, so water can't penetrate into strands and fade color. A few pumps of the sulfate-free treatment will leave you protected—while nourishing strands to prevent breakage.
I can't imagine who reviewed this at Birchbox and thought others would love it. Putting this grease on my hair (NOT my roots) because I shampooed was weird. Why do I want to repelled water when I need to wash my hair? Well, it repelled the shampoo as my hair didn't suds up at all. My hair was terribly greasy the rest of the day. Terrible product. Got to a salon to get better color, do not use this.1
If I could give zero stars I would. This has to be the absolute worst hair product I have EVER used. Why would I want to repel water before washing my hair? I used as directed in conjunction with the shampoo and conditioner that came in the three-pack of foils. After it dried my hair was a stiff and greasy/oily mess. Usually you can't tell if a product works for you from a tiny foil packet, but I know with 100% certainty I would NEVER use this again and wouldn't recommend it for anyone. Major FAIL.1
This is a neat idea, but I do not think that I would actually end up using the product if I purchased it.3
I didnt feel like this primer did much. The shampoo and conditioner that go along with this made my hair feel really dry.2
I felt that it worked for the few shampoos I had the sample for after I dyed my hair recently. Good product!4
My hair felt greasy & flat for two washes post application. I was concerned that I applied the product incorrectly, but after seeing other reviews am glad to see it wasn't just me. Plus side? It smells pretty good.2
I don't like how greasy it makes my hair feel. Even after showering, my hair still feels unclean.2
I liked the pre-shampoo, shampoo, and conditioner but the 3 step process is a little too much for my laziness.4
All this did was make my shampoo work harder. Putting something on your hair directly before washing it...you guessed it, just disappears. Smells good though!1
I gave the Nexxus Color Assure Pre-Wash Primer a try, but didn't notice anything as a result of using it. Does shampoo really need a primer? Nexxus may have taken things too far with this one.1
