If we can keep going strong through our busy schedules, from early morning coffee to late-night cocktails, you’d think our eye shadow could do the same—yet by mid-afternoon (if we’re lucky) it’s smudged, creased, or gone altogether. This primer keeps shadow picture-perfectly in place for a full day. After all, you never know when the perfect moment for a selfie will present itself.
I have extremely oily eyelids (I guess that's a thing?) and all my eye makeup fades after a few hours. I've had no solution for this for YEARS. I read the reviews and tried this. It works amazing! My eyeshadow doesn't budge. My eyeliner stays about 99% of the time. I've never used a shadow primer before, so I'm in awe of how awesome this product works. If anyone has a better recommendation, let me know. But for me, this primer is a miracle worker and I'm no longer self conscious and looking in the mirror all the time to fix my melting eye makeup. I love this product!4
I'm always cynical when it comes to beauty product claims. I figured 24 hours was marketing speak for 6 hours if you're lucky. This product really lived up to it's name! I've been using it for over two weeks now and yup, 24 hours is right. My cream, gel, pencil, and powder liners have been put tho the test with the primer. They look just as good as when I applied them at 6 am as when I washed them off at midnight and there were a few times where I fall asleep before washing my face and yup, 24 hours later my eyeliner did not budge and I had to break out eye makeup remover to get going for the day. My powder shadows didn't crease either. The other thing I'm trying to figure out is how to blend shadows while using the primer. That primer really locks that powder in there and it's been difficult of me to blend, but I'd rather have eyeshadow that stays put than perfectly blended eyeshadow that's out the door four hours later.5
I am cheap and typically go for lowest name brand shadow primer. As I was running out of my last one I decided to go a bit nicer and could absolutely tell the different. Application is smooth and a great hold all day. Definitely worth paying $10 more for a much better product.5
This will keep your eyeshadow on all day and night if you pass out without washing. The tube will last a very, very long time as all you need is a teeny tiny bit. It is a little harder to blend the shadow but you can do it. Well worth $20!!!!5
I have tried many primers due to my large pores and this is truly my favorite. I'm on my second tube and am now a customer for life. It doesn't take any more than a dab or two to cover my whole face. It dries very quickly, so the process won't hold up your morning routine. Trust me and my 5 star rating.5
It definitely stops creasing in the eyelid if you have difficulty in this area. I've always simply used a natural colored shadow as a base before applying my eye shadow and creasing hasn't been an issue. But would depend on each individual skin type. Your shadow WILL stay put for a couple of days. (Sh! I didn't admit that)
HOWEVER, please note you CANNOT blend your shadows after applying and this is why I rated this a 3. You have to adjust where you apply this product and your shadow or you are stuck unless you want to cleanse and start again.
I've tried numerous shadow primer's but none do the job without creasing like this one does. Received as a sample from Nordstroms squeezed every drop out of it and then some before taking the plunge and purchasing from Birchbox. Glad I did. A little goes a long way, now if I can just stop my daughter from trying to steal it.5
Doesn't hold up ten hours for me. I have VERY oily eyelids, and I've tested this with LOC, eyeko, Laure Geller gel, and none of it holds through a work day without spreading or disappearing. I thought I was cursed based on the reviews. But then I found the Balm shadow primer which works!! For some this is good enough. For me it is not.2
this shadow primer does exactly what it says it will..... goes on smooth, makes shadow stick/last, even glitter shadows! would recommend for sure :)5
Id been using another primer for YEARS because I thought nothing could beat it but then along came smashbox with this killer primer. I've spent and entire day at Disneyland and my cat eye did not budge an inch. Truly miraculous.5
