With hues like glistening sand, glimmering water, and a shimmering sunset, all the best parts of summer (and, thankfully, none of the hair-wilting humidity) make an appearance in Ruffian’s new polish collection, available exclusively through Birchbox. The polishes are perfectly suited for the lazy, sunny days of summer—and the gleaming colors will conjure up a warm day at the beach long after the cold weather sets in.
Good brand of polish long wear. Really one coat is all you need.5
Ruffian nail polishes are the best!!! They are so thick you only need one coat and are perfectly shiny and are just amazing5
I order this early to bring the feeling of summer back. I love all the colors and they go with everything.5
Ruffian is a smooth, long lasting nail polish that comes in some of the best colors out there. The matte colors are classy and beautiful and the shiny colors are fun and vibrant. The sample sizes actually have a lot of applications within them. The polish is also easy to remove. Ruffian is a great nail polish.4
I liked the formula of the nail polish it went on very pigmented but did not like the color at all.1
I recieved the neutral polish in my box and I like the color but the polish is very thick and hard to put on evenly, I had to put on 4 coats before I felt like the color looked even.3
I got these in the Modern Mermaid box. I haven't tried the tan one yet, but the blue and pink ones go on in ONE COAT! I don't think I have any other nail polish that I'm satisfied with doing one coat of, and I have a huge collection.5
I got this set because I got a sample of another color, and loved the way that the nail polish looked. But I was disappointed with this set. The purple color was the best of the bunch. The beige color was a little boring, and the blue nail polish was clumpy. Almost as if it had already been opened and left out and then closed. Parts of the brush got stuck in the polish as I was putting it on because the bristles were loose. So I was a little disappointed.2
The pinkish purple is my favorite out of this set. What I really like about this brand of nail polish is that it is super easy to apply (I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to paining my nails) and drys faster then my other polishes like O.P.I or ESSIE. This comes in the mermaid limited edition set.5
First, let me just say how beautiful the samples of RUFFIAN Endless Love (pink) and Blue Lagoon (blue) are. The Sahara (tan) is pretty, but it's so close to my skin tone when it's dry that it makes my fingernail almost disappear oddly into the rest of my finger. It's a lovely shade, but I think I'd need to be more Summer-tanned so there's more of a contrast between my skin and the actual nail polish. It's not a great Winter shade for me. The pink and blue are gorgeous no matter what, though. They look great against pale skin, and they'll look jewel-toned against a darker or tanned skin tone.
The metallic shimmer is subtle; it looks mature, not childish. When I first took them out of the box, I commented that they looked nearly separated, but that may have been a result of my not shaking them enough. With a solid, extended mixing, I'm not seeing the same problem today.
The polish goes on thick, covers completely in one coat, and dries so quickly it's almost frightening. I was honestly shocked at how little I had to use. There were no streaks, no smears, the coverage was even, and there weren't any of those annoying clumps and ridges that you see so often in metallic or 'shiny' polish.
My only complaint is that the brush in the bottle of Sahara is bent at the tip. Where the Endless Love and Blue Lagoon brushes are a smooth and square, the Sahara brush looks more like a used broom. Lots of bent bristles and flare. If I had a way to replace it - say, a brush from another bottle of RUFFIAN, I'd go for it, but as it stands, I'm thinking I'll end up using manicure scissors to trim the wayward strands.
