For natural, unfussy waves, nothing beats a dip in the ocean. But short of moving to the Caribbean, theres no way to recreate that look at a moments notice—or so we thought. This two-in-one spray adds texture and shine to our hair, allowing us to create a piecey, tousled look minus the stiffening effects of salt water. Oribe's special Beach Wave Complex uses hydrolyzed wheat protein, vitamin B, copolymers, and amber extracts to pump up each hair shaft and add wavy texture. Meanwhile, a mix of moisturizers, including safflower seed oil and marigold extract, heals dry ends, and galanga root extracts contribute a natural dose of UV protection. It's suitable for all hair types, from superfine to ultrathick, and also safe for color-treated or processed strands.
I was introduced to this by my stylist, who is an Oribe devotee big time (it's my first time with the line), and she suggested it as an alternative to the sticky, salty beach texturizers that I'm more than a little addicted to. Here's how I'd break this down:
Wave-ifying: 2.5 out of 5. It's not going to make straight hair wavy. It really just gives you a lil something if you've already styled your hair.
Shine: 5 out of 5. Awesome, super-shiny finish. I've gotten a lot of comments on how shiny my hair looks when I use it. Just be careful not to go overboard. I've had greasy days when I wasn't careful to just really get the ends and mid lengths.
Scent: 5 out of 5. This smells expensive and sexy. My boyfriend Loves the way my hair smells when I use it.
It's a little pricey, sure-- but I think a worthy treat and fun to experiment with ;)
This spray not only gave my hair killer waves and texture, it gave it shine and kept it feeling silky unlike all those salt sprays that dry out your hair. Definitely a must have.5
This is the best wave making spray I have ever used and I bet I have tried 20 or more. Non sticky and makes my hair really shiny.5
This is a great product for my naturally wavy hair. I love how my hair reacts to the salt water air and humidity when we go to the ocean. I've tried several "beach" hair sprays and most leave my hair feeling very dry and crunchy and don't always deliver great results. The Oribe is my favorite, and it smells TERRIFIC!5
not only smells amazing, but leaves hair with the perfect texture not to stiff, salty or to oily or shiny.5
Have to be honest - my hair has a natural wave, but this product really helps with frizz. I've tried other 'beach wave' products but they all seem to be sticky, or too tropical scented.
Orbe's doesn't leave a heavy residue and really helps lift the curls without making them frizzy! Perfect combo!
Also -a little tip - I usually add a little bit of a styling oil once my hair is dry to add a little shine!
great ending spray when you want loosely curled hair. Adds a nice shine to ends and separates ends to give that tasseled look. Use every time I curl my hair. Very light weight. Does not tangle hair4
I'll start out saying you definitely have to know what you're doing when attempting to use a beach spray. This is what I did and what worked beautifully for my middle-of-my-back, fine, wavy hair. Out of the shower I applied a curl cream (I used MoroccanOil curl cream) and scrunched hair as usual. Then once 90% dry, I sprayed some of this beach spray all over in sections and then braided my hair in a regular braid. Slept on it. Woke up and undid the braid.. sprayed more beach spray all over and used my curling wand to fix flat pieces and curl the ends. My hair has never looked more beautifully wavy or "beachy". Wish I could add a photo.. got compliments all day. This is such a wonderful product with texture and shine! And smells wonderful like all Oribe products :)4
I love the smell and I hate washing my hair so this gives me some texture and style to keep my hair looking great between washes. Don't get it on the roots...keep to the ends to avoid the greasy texture.4
I originally purchased a smaller bottle of this from a boutique in my town. Because I had some BB points, I decided to purchase the full-size on Birchbox. I have to say, my number one reason for purchasing is the smell--it's heavenly! I have fine, semi-wavy hair (if I let it air-dry), and I like to use this product along with a curling wand to enhance waves. I have tried using it without curling my hair as well, and it just gets sort of stringy and crunchy. I allow my hair to air dry a bit, add some spray, then usually sleep on it in a top-knot. Then, the next day, I use more of the spray as a texturizer along with the curling wand.4
