Dads and younger brothers alike dig this dapper scent. Housed in smoky glass with a spring top reminiscent of a vintage beer bottle, John Varvatos’ cologne, like his designs, exudes a combination of off-kilter downtown cool and elegant prep. Also available in a 3.4 oz version.
It smelled good but I have no use for it - not sure if any of my male friends would be into it.1
It annoyed me that I got a men's product in my female birchbox. Not happy.1
None of my guy friends wear cologne, and if they do, they have one they stick to religiously. I gave this to my fiancé and he didn't use it. It smells nice, I might recommend it as an option for a friend if they were looking for a fragrance, but it just didn't work for me/us.1
I didn't really understand the point of receiving a product that I could not use. However, I have brothers so it wasn't a total waste. I don't know how they feel about it, but I thought the smell was nice for a man.1
Gave this to one of my coworkers. If I wanted male products I would be subscribed to the male birchbox. Will you be putting any female-oriented samples in the male boxes, I wonder?1
I was really excited about the BB tendency to include fragrance samples in their monthly boxes. This was my first box, and I DO wish I hadn't received a man's cologne, but I was so thrilled with my box I didn't much care. I will say as a women this scent didn't appeal to me at all. I tried giving it away to friends, and eventually forced my father to take it, but beforehand I sampled it on my pulse points and found it to be too cool and fresh. Strictly a preference, but I personally like a little warmth and musk on a guy. I also found that the scent faded MUCH quicker than I expected, going from assailing my senses to nothing in under 2 hours.1
I will admit I was really disappointed that I got a men's fragrance in my June box since it's a monthly thing I do for myself as a girly treat. I was upset at getting a man's fragrance rather than something I could try for myself. I tried it out to see if it was something that could pass of as neutral smelling but I just smelled like a guy all day! I gave it to my husband to try and he didn't care for it and said it was "way too fruity" so he thought it was a bit too girly. I guess it's just a smell that's hard to wear.1
It smells very strong for it being an eau de toilette. It also smelled very much like Axe. My boyfriend also didn't really find it very unique.1
The John Varvatos scent reminded me of old man's aftershave. Not something that my fiancee will ever use although he added it to his cologne sample collection.1
Not a fan of this scent. Also not sure why it was included in my BirchBox.1
