Striving for that classic swoop of black eyeliner, weve struggled through more than our share of smudgy pencils, finicky liquids, and unwieldy gels. Enter this eye-opening gel pen from Benefit: The liner is a breeze to control and it nudges lashes aside to cozy up to the lashline, so we can easily sweep on a smooth, lash-hugging line every time. The pens innovative AccuFlex tip is both angled and flexible, to glide liner along the lid in a simple, single, tug-free swipe. A wide guard below the tip gently shifts lashes out of the way, making it easy to get right against the lashline for an extra wide-eyed look. The formula quickly dries to a matte finish, and is smudgeproof, waterproof, and utterly unbridgeable.2014 Allure Best in Beauty Winner
First the pros: The staying power is great and the color pay off is fantastic. The cons however is it's a pain in the butt to get off. I had to scrub over and over again in order to get it off. I used makeup remover, cleansing water, oils, and it would barely come off. It began to irritate my eyes, due to all the scrubbing I had to do in order to remove it. I love the lasting power, hate the removing process. Also, I feel like I can't get a super precise line with this. It kind of skips when applying, because the product gets on the sides of the applicator and can mess up your line. I love the idea of eliminating the use of a separate brush and that it's so pigmented, but I wish it were more precise and easier to remove.4
This gel liner is a dream! I do not have a steady hand and have never been able to do a cat eye—until trying this product! Benefit has made it so super easy to get that perfect line and shape every time!5
I won this as part of a Birchbox giveaway and it's the easiest liner I've ever used! It's so different from anything I've ever tried before… whoever thought to put gel in a pencil casing was a genius. My one complaint is that it doesn't come off easily. I had to really scrub to get the product off my lids. I guess it will be good for my summer vacations though!5
I got this as part of an early release promotion and it is amazing. I am a cat-eye novice and this helps me nail it every time. For those who are having trouble getting it off: my neutrogena makeup remover wipes take it off really easily without irritating my eye.5
I was really excited to try this product based on how it was hyped up like it was the second coming of Christ, but I was less than dazzled. As a gal who rocks cat-eye liner 365 days a year I've tried many-a-product ranging from pencils to gels to liquid liners, and for my money the liquid liners are superior. I can see how this product would be good for a newbie who isn't as confident in their eye-lining abilities and needs this point-and-shoot liner to hold their hand, but I found it inhibited me from getting my trademark look.3
I love this liner. It makes for a perfect line and sharp cat eye. And it's definitely water proof. So much so that I had trouble getting it off with make-up remover.5
I love the application of this liner and it really does give the perfect cat eye. However, when it is applied, it sometimes comes off in tiny black flakes that can stain your skin if you wipe at them. If you get it, definitely purchase Benefit's remover--that's the only way that you'll get it off! (except for the little flakes!)3
I really loved this product when I first got it. The liner went on smoothly and it was fairly easy to make a nice line. After just a few weeks, however, I noticed that it started coming out clumpy and would flake off halfway through the day. I love benefit products, so I was pretty surprised that there were issues with this liner. I don't think I'll be buying it again!2
Okay, now we're talking. Benefit has done it again - offering an outstanding product. It's a winner, literraly!
Easy to use, stays put, and prompting questions and compliments. Find it on Birchbox! Yeah! Does it come in naby blue, too? I plan to check.
I liked the thought of gel liner that could be applied in a thin line. When I tried the product, it was very difficult to get a straight line and almost impossible to get a thin line. The silicone tip kept bending or folding over and I looked like something for Halloween instead of a night out to dinner. I will go back to my usual liner.3
