We're always skeptical when products promise the sun and the moon, but Dr. Jart's Premium Beauty Balm truly delivers. A four-in-one primer, moisturizer, sunscreen, and treatment serum, the formula helps you cut down on the grooming clutter. This tinted balm uses adenosine to improve skin's elasticity and arbutin to brighten and even out skin tone. An antioxidant bio-peptide complex provides anti-aging properties and promotes collagen production, while titanium dioxide and zinc oxide add broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection.
Let’s break it down. Does this work as a primer? I have no idea, seeing as how I rarely wear actual foundation… but it was just tinted enough to even out my skin tone a little bit, so that was good enough for me. Does it work as a moisturizer? It’s fairly lightweight and didn’t seem to “sink in” at all, so no, not really. Does it work as a sunscreen? I honestly have no idea as I spend most of my days indoors, but I don’t think I’d ever slather it on thick enough to serve as a substitute for good old fashioned just-sunscreen. Does it work as a treatment serum? Um, I have no idea what that even means….
It’s fine as basically a tinted moisturizer, but I’m skeptical about the other claims and not willing to spend almost $40 for a long-term test.
I'm not much for foundation or similar products, but I gave this a go. I felt like the tone didn't really go with my skin and it required a lot of blending. The tone was yellowish and I have pink undertones.3
This stuff is great! It evens out my skin tone in a light but natural way! A little goes a long way! Worth the money! :)5
At first this moisturizer was perfect for my sensitive skin but only after a few days did big cysts appear on my face. I was so sad to part with such a great product.3
I'm not a huge product user. I have my go to basics and occasionally spice it up on the weekends. When I received this tinted sunscreen first thought was who uses this?!? Now that I've tried it, I'm in love. Simple, blends well, and makes your complexion look great. I now understand how some people look so good at the beach!4
While it evens out my skin tone and is a nice base for bronzer and blush, it's really heavy for a beauty balm. It felt thick and didn't appear to last all day like I was hoping it would. It lasted about four hours before I had to redo my makeup... It did moisturize my dry skin though, so that was a bonus.3
I like BB creams on days where I don't want a product with medium-ish coverage. This product went on nicely, had a nice color, however it doesn't have as much coverage as I would have liked.3
I have have some pretty bad luck with BBs before trying the Dr. Jart Premium BB. This one is definately the best I have every tried. It goes on smoothly and evenly, lightly covering my face in a color that is just slightly darker than my skin (but I am super pale, I use Urban Decay Naked foundation in the shade 0.5). The slight color difference is not a problem in the warmer months because it smooths out so evenly and naturally it looks like I just have a natural summer glow.
The moisturizer part of the BB cream is absorbed into my skin quickly, not leaving any greasiness or still-wet feeling like some others BBs out there. I will re-purchase this for sure when I run out, but that won't be for a long time!
This is light weight/light coverage and yet it does a great job. Not sure that it improved my skin but I was pleased with how it looked and will be buying a full sized one!5
This is honestly the best face product I've EVER used! I have acne scars and a very uneven skin tone, but all of that disappears with this. My husband and friends all rave about how amazing my skin looks. It also makes it look and feel better even after I wash it off!5
