There is no point in prettifying hands with an expensive mani or luxe polish if you don’t prep nails properly first. Get them into tip top shape and prime them for lacquer with Deborah Lippmann's supremely effective strengthening base and top coat. A hardener that also hydrates, it will give you healthy, smooth, and super-tough nails in no time flat.
This is BY FAR the absolute best top coat which actually acts a base coat as well. my nails look perfect WITHOUT chipping for over a week its incredible!5
Goes on easy, comes off easy and helps my nails! Excited to finally get some help with the chips and cracks that have been so hard to control.5
I expected this product to be really great due to the price. While it did seem to prevent my nails from chipping for a day or two, I don't think it was a "wonder-product." This product works fine, but at $20 I have found other cheaper, but just as effective products.3
There was nothing special about this top coat. It didn't dry fast and didn't last any longer than any other nail top coat I have used in the past. It was easy to apply but just average--my nails were no better after using the product for a month.3
This top coat really underwhelmed me, I was hoping it would be just as great as the nail varnishes. It did not harden my nails, it took about ten minutes to dry. The worst part is that a month after purchasing the top coat, it got so hard that even nail polish thinner would not fix it. Now I see why it's called "Hard Rock", it won't make your nails rock hard, but it will go rock hard while still in the bottle. So disappointed.1
Ok, I bought this, thinking that having one product for both a base-coat and topcoat would be an obvious benefit. Although I kept the product and did use it for several months, I just can't say that I was overly impressed. I just didn't feel that it performed all that well. For example, I did not feel that the topcoat did anything to keep my nail polish from chipping. I am admittedly hard on a manicure, it would seem, based on how frequently I am chipped and ready to a touch-up if not a totally re-do within a day or two, although I am not even doing things like scrubbing floors, or other chores that might easily be expected to be hard on a manicure.
I have since moved onto a different product and although I do still need to touch up more often than I would like, do feel that the new product does in fact provide more protection than this one did.
So overall, at best, I found this product to be average. Certainly not leaving my nails "super tough" as they advertised. In retrospect, I should have returned this product, as in my experience it did not live up to it's claims.
I am a nail polish addict and don't keep the same polish on for more than a few days, but I did notice in those few days I didn't have any chipping! Most polishes chip within a day for me so this was fantastic!
The thing with all polishes and base/top coats is the application has to be right. Apply down the center, then each side and finish by running the brush under and across the tip. I do like this product for the same reasons other reviewers mention but am giving four stars because the price is a little high unless you consider it combines two products.4
Whenever I use this as a topcoat it literally begins peeling off (with polish attached) within 24 hours. Not acceptable for a $20 nail product.2
I was desperate for a nail polish that didn't chip. So I bought this top coat. I read good reviews about the nail polish. I wore it over Color Club. It was weird it peeled off in layers. Almost to thick. You don't get sheet marks with this.1
