Smith & Cult Nailed Lacquer - Pillow Pie

Created by the beauty icon who launched Hard Candy (and sparked our polish obsession in the 90’s), Smith & Cult strikes that perfect balance between gorgeous and edgy (just look at their shade names to see what we mean). This covetable, semi-sheer powder pink polish is vibrant, chip-resistant, and 8-free—meaning the formula is free of not-so-nice ingredients like dibutyl phthalate, toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, xylene, ethyl tosylamide, and triphenyl phosphate.

a bit thin/streaky but lasts for a long time!

I got this in a limited edition box a while ago, and the first time I tried it out, I wasn't a fan. The subsequent times I've used this nail polish have been great. It's lasted for a solid 10-12 days with no major chipping and for me, that's a really long time for polish to last! The formula is thin, so I have to use 3 coats of polish. I always use a top coat and base coat, so I think the combination of that and 3 coats of the color really helped it last long and look opaque as well. Also very glad the metallic top comes off so the brush is easier to handle! A solid nail polish, but takes a bit more time to get it opaque. The color is a lovely pale ballet pink.

Oh Smith & Cult...why?

This polish came in my LE box. And upon first glance I loved it. A pretty, almost ballet pink in a chic bottle (the silver top comes off btw ladies for easier handling). 5 free. Sold. Then I tried it. It was semi sheer and streaky with two coats. And maybe I was doing it wrong (after twenty plus years I think I know how to pain my nails though)... It was just a streaky hot mess. Don't purchase this, it's not worth it. Not my first rodeo with this brand either. Would not repurchase nor will I try any more colors from Smith & Cult. This is my 3rd letdown.

good not great

I think the color is flattering, but I found the polish to be a bit streaky. I would recommend at least two coats to get a nice solid color.

The bottle is stylish but I had to remove the cap to get a good grip on the handle (maybe that is obvious?! but it wasn't to me initially)

Meh.

Not really a great color or formula. I am not a fan of pale pinks and this one was very streaky.

Needs some applicator innovation but sweet
Purchased

I found this color tricky to apply as it is very streaky. Wished that there is a wider brush to apply. At first I put on several applications but the streaks were a challenge. Just could not get it to be a clean sweep. Then I applied a very light barely there approach and love it. A very light pink sheen on the nails looks quite fetching.

Pretty color/not so pretty formula
Purchased

This polish has a really thing streaky formula. I thought it was just me, so I got a manicure and after three coats it was still noticeably streaky up close. It also layers weird and you can see the edges of the layers around the edge of your nails. I haven't tried any other smith and cult colors, but this one is a flop in my opinion.

Not their best color...

I love Smith & Cult polishes but this one was a total miss for me. It's a pale opaque color that is very streaky and doesn't look good against my fair skin. Very disappointing.

Streaky and a non color

The bulky lid was weird, but I could see it was kind of designed to be held. I got this color in a limited edition box and I wasn't pumped before it even arrived. I tried it out and it is super duper alright. It is ultra streaky even after two coats and with my skin tone, it almost isn't a color. It doesn't look pink lol the picture, it's more of an off-white with a pinkish tinge.

Nice polish
Purchased

I was hesitant in ordering the polish as it got mixed reviews but I'm glad I tried it myself. I really like the color, although it took about three coats to get a good even color. The cap is very heavy but it can be removed to make applying the color easier.
