This new perfume has a storied pedigree. After reading The Book Of Lost Fragrances, a thriller that details the quest to locate a scent created in the days of Cleopatra, fragrance designer Frederick Bouchardy was inspired to bring the novel’s star scent to life. Even if thrillers aren’t your favorite literary genre, you’re sure to love the spellbinding blend of orange blossom, myrrh, and other exotic notes.
I will say that I, personally, did not like this perfume scent. It can work well for others, but was too "woodsy" to me. It reminds me of my old elementary school's class "gerbil's cage", so to speak. (very strong cedar accents) Sorry to say, this was my least favorite scent from Birchbox so far.2
I tried it out on myself and three female colleagues, and we all agree that it smells like hamsters. Something about the mid-notes has a definite hamster woodchip aroma, and on me there's an additional top note of mint. Altogether, I smell like a cab driver who owns a lot of hamsters. Not my favorite scent.2
It was a little too musky/old lady smelling for my tastes. I like the container though.2
I didn't enjoy the scent. It did go on easily with the rolly-ball, but I don't think the scent is for me.2
When I read the notes in this perfume, I thought it sounded right up my alley. Alas, it was not for me. I got some on my hands and it bothered me so I had to wash my hands to get rid of the smell.2
I dabbed a little of this scent on my wrists before a wedding and then couldn't scrub it off fast enough. Now that I realize there's jasmine in it, I understand why. I've never been a jasmine fan. Combine it with frankincense and myrrh and you have a powerful musk. If musky perfumes are your thing (and musks have a large fan base), snap this up.1
When I got this product it had leaked all over my other products. Luckily I was still able to use my other samples.1
Didn't like the scent at all! I'm more of a fruity scent girl1
Joya Ames Soeures Parfum was just my thing. I tried a vial sample that I received in my birchbox. Just not for me...1
This fragrance smelled like medicine on my skin. I initially liked it when I smelled it out of the bottle - maybe it was the jasmine because I typically like the way jasmine smells. I like that it comes in a roller instead of a spray, though.1
