This new perfume has a storied pedigree. After reading The Book Of Lost Fragrances, a thriller that details the quest to locate a scent created in the days of Cleopatra, fragrance designer Frederick Bouchardy was inspired to bring the novel’s star scent to life. Even if thrillers aren’t your favorite literary genre, you’re sure to love the spellbinding blend of orange blossom, myrrh, and other exotic notes.
One of my first Birchbox purchases. I love the scent and how it interacts with my own chemistry. It's a slightly heavier scent, not really a summer scent but works great the rest of the year.5
I've gotten so many compliments when I wear this fragrance. It's perhaps better to wear going out at night or on a date instead of to work, but regardless, I find it to be spellbinding.5
At first I was unsure about it, but this fragrance really grew on me. The scent is truly exotic and unlike any perfume I've ever smelled before. Very intriguing and very sexy! It may not be for everyone but I recommend giving it a chance. The roller ball is affordable and will last you; a little bit goes a long way and it stays on all day. I love the story behind it as well--makes me want to wear it even more!5
I love this scent, it's my new go- to for evenings out & days I want to feel more sexy! I also love the roller ball & that it's so portable.5
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this scent! That being said, my body chemistry definitely changes it some. It lasts all day and smells of the perfect balance of florals and cherries. My husband loves it too. I wear it EVERY day. This is now my scent. Definitely worth a try if you are a gal who appreciates essential oils and tend to do better with mens' fragrances, but would love to smell and feel girly.5
I like the scent because it is a little heavier than most women's fragrances. It isn't over powering and I really enjoy the rollerball application.5
Wonderful smell. It reminds me of summer. I use it when I am looking for something subtle but memorable. The roll on goes on just enough but isn't over powering.5
I love the smell. Plus it is easy to carry in my handbag. The only thing is that, I learned about it in one of my boxes. It smells slightly different. But, I am not complaining5
Got a sample in a Box and wasn't sure it was for me. After wearing it, I couldn't stop smelling it on my wrist. I love that it is not flowery or sweet. Smells so good (smoky-incense), I read the book! The roll- on applicator is perfect. Asked for more for a holiday gift.5
Somehow this scent manages to be powdery and sophisticated like a chypre, yet a little refreshing and citrusy. I've had a number of compliments from friends. The scent is a little reminiscent of dryer softener sheets (one friend said, "You smell great! What laundry detergent are you using these days?"), but I personally don't think in a cheap or artificial way. It's something about the way the incense plays off the other notes...the guy I'm currently seeing always goes in for extra sniffs when I'm wearing this (I think it stays relatively close to the skin, requiring proximity for a good whiff), but he's also expressed partiality to clean laundry smells, so there you go. Like I said, I definitely also am getting the clean laundry vibe, but with more depth: the powder notes are deeper, smokier, and more exotic and there are more subtle floral notes that carry that 'clean' smell away from clean. It's a scent reminiscent of bold, early 20th-century women like Karen Blixen and Amelia Earhart: exotic, adventurous, mysterious.5
