Romano Ricci, the self-described offbeat dandy of the perfume world, only used one element—Cetalox—to create this minimalist perfume. Even if you've never heard of it, you've undoubtedly picked up its scent. Used as a back note in thousands of fragrances, Cetalox (a synthetic substitute for grey amber) takes center stage in Not a Perfume. The result is elegant, pure, spicy, and completely allergen-free.
This perfume smells amazing and I've gotten several compliments when I have worn it, however the price is a little steep which makes me less likely to buy it.4
I am usually a fan of the more "mature" scents available, but this was too much for me. A friend took a sniff and her exact words were "You smell like an old woman!" Clearly that is not my goal, so I will not be purchasing. Now - interestingly enough, another good friend also received this in her August box, and it smells completely different on her. Like, I couldn't possibly imagine it's even the same perfume, but it must be. So it's possible it can completely change on different people's bodies. Just not the scent for me, I suppose.4
I liked the smell well enough when I initially put it on, but the way it developed over time on me was not my favorite. I was in a hurry to wash it off by the end of the evening.3
I don't understand the whole "not a perfume" branding, but the product itself has a very nice scent. Not too strong, but lasting.3
I loved that the scent was not overwhelming and that it lasted all day. However, it's too expensive for me.4
I love love love this perfume. I wish it wasn't so expensive. Probably my favorite perfume I've smelled in a while.5
I like the smell and it lasts on your skin. It is a little strong at first, but if you like that then it should work for you.4
I don't know why the simplicity of this is so intriguing to me, but it works. I love that the way it smells when it goes on is the way it stays, outside of getting slightly spicier smelling after the first minute while it dries. A single note perfume is perfect for me since I usually have a lot of trouble with base notes, and best of all it's helped me figure out a base note that will work best when I'm looking for other scents.4
I love this scent - it's light and deep and adjusts to your own body. Awesome!5
Has a nice scent, but nothing I haven't smelled before. A bit boring for the price.4
