Of all the things we expect out of an SPF, pleasant smells fall in the “unlikely” category. That’s why we were so pleasantly surprised to discover COOLA’s citrusy formula, which gets its refreshing natural scent from a trio of orange peel, lemon peel, and tangerine peel oils. Made with 97 percent organic plant inactive ingredients, the sunblock goes on clear and the convenient spray helps us reach all those nooks and crannies we’d miss otherwise. Great for all skin types, it’s a must for summer.
The Citrus Mimosa smells good. The product covers well and dries clear. It doesn't leave white residue like their rub-on products. The downside to the product is the price is expensive for the amount of product that you receive. The canister might be the same size as other brands but it feels as if you get half the amount of product as other brands (not proven - going off of feeling the canister almost empty Day 2). I went on vacation at a hot sunny beach resort and by Day 2 of 6, it felt like the can was almost empty. The product had probably been applied only 6 times by then. I wouldn't recommend relying on it on a trip but maybe if you were nearby home for a day trip to the beach only.3
I splurged on this based on the description of how nice smelling it was supposed to be and thought I'd try it during a recent beach trip. It does work as a nice moisturizing sunblock and I put it on faithfully every day before going out to the beach however the smell was not the tropical citrusy smell I was expecting, instead it smelled like a chemical - mostly alcohol and made me cough as it irritated my throat and lungs so I had to hold my breath to use it. I used it once a day for 6 days and it was gone, so for the money it cost me it definitely wasn't worth it. Way overpriced and didn't deliver.3
I used this as my reapply in Cayman. I typically wore SPF 70 under and sprayed this on after getting out of the water! I didn't burn!4
It goes on almost completely dry and smells great. Not sure about the spray mechanism, so I bought the lotion this time, but Coola is a great brand and the ingredients are pretty safe, comparably, for a sunscreen. Its not the best for use in the wind, either, hence why I am switching to the lotion for my repurchase. Hopefully it goes on as dry, because I love that it doesn't feel like I have a thick, heavy, greasy sunscreen on when I wear this product.4
I really like that this spray is organic and smells nothing like what you expect sunscreen to smell like. I bought it for my boyfriend (a firefighter who fly fishes on his day off) because he's in the sun and doesn't like to put on sunscreen or smell funny all day. He is a fan of this! He says the smell is nice but not overwhelming.4
I LOVE the coola brand and have for over a year! As a nurse I feel it's safe to use on my 2 year old nephew plus the spray is easy to use. The Pina Colada smells amazing, so I had high hopes for the citrus mimosa. It doesn't smell bad by any means. It's just not as fun and fruity as the pina colada one.4
I'm so much more likely to use this spray on sunscreen than I am to slather on yet another layer of lotion. This is easy to put on, smells great and feels like nothing. The protection seems to work well. I like this a ton and will buy it again!4
This is a lovely light cool spray. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is it is pricey and doesn't last long. I can't believe it was used up so quickly, so unfortunately I will not buy it again; it is not long lasting enough for the price.4
I have used many sunscreens and I am very sensitive to texture and scent. This goes on thin and smooth and smells great. I love the organic ingredients. The only reason this is not getting 5 stars is the price. Otherwise, I highly highly recommend this sunscreen!4
I love this sunblock. I love that this is a spray, easy to get all over. Hard to use on face, have to buy a separate product, which I have not done yet. The scent is not overwhelming, but is a pleasant change up from the normal sunblock smells.4
