You wouldn’t know it from the state of our makeup drawer, but we’re actually beauty minimalists. Our motto: Why use two products when you can get the same effect with one? This two-in-one lip and cheek stain gives us a natural, understated flush and helps us get out the door faster. The gel formula looks dark in the tube but delivers a sheer tint. The tinted gel leaves a lasting stain on lips and cheeks. Since it’s water-based, it has a longer setting time than most quick-dry stains, which means it won’t leave any unsightly streaks behind as long as you take care to blend well. Use a single coat for a subtle look or layer it on for a more visible (yet still discreet) hue.
For full disclosure, I only used this as a lip stain, not a cheek stain. I'm also using the 3-star rating to mean "I like it but I wouldn't pay for it."
When first applying to the lips, it is easy to apply for the most part and is rather wet looking in a good way. You do have to be careful when applying, however, as it leaves a line. When the line falls on your lip line, it looks great and acts as lip liner but when it doesn't, you have to smooth it out with more application. The reason I would not pay for it is because it does not last throughout the day. As a stain, it should 'stain' my lips and it easily comes off.
I wouldn't exactly say this is a great lip stain. It rubs off fairly quickly. I actually find this most effective for blush and use it regularly as it stays on longer than my powdered version.4
This was one of the samples of my very first Birchbox and I was excited to try all the items. I was very impressed with this product. I used it as a base for my powder blush and it worked perfectly. Use just a little, even it out, and it gives my blush a brighter, longer lasting look.1
I first tried this product when it arrived in my monthly Birchbox subscription. I have been totally hooked ever since! It is very similar to Benefit's lip and cheek stain; however, it is far more reasonably priced4
This was a long lasting lip stain... The color was a bit too deep for me, but I can see a lot of people really digging it! I never used it as a cheek stain as it was so dark on the lips. Maybe for a night out it would be great... but it seemed a bit much for a trip to the store with the baby...3
I absolutely love this shade and the best part is it doesn't drie out your lips like some lip stains and when I use by benefit posie balm it really shows up beautifully. <3 it.5
I really like the way this stain went on and stayed on. Sometimes, with stains, I feel apprehensive about the initial darkness of it and I try to wipe it off immediately; however, this stain went on lighter and I felt comfortable adding layers to it. It also stayed on pretty well.4
I love to use this on my lips and cheeks as a quick stain, it adds a natural color and doesn't rub off. The only downside is that it doesnt last long, and fades after just an hour or two.4
This doesn't blend nicely at all. It left a weird tint on my face and I didn't enjoy it1
I got a sample on my january's box, and i still have it. It doen't work at all. When i put it i can't see it or feel it smooth. Smell really bad.1
