Romano Ricci, the self-described offbeat dandy of the perfume world, only used one element—Cetalox—to create this minimalist perfume. Even if you've never heard of it, you've undoubtedly picked up its scent. Used as a back note in thousands of fragrances, Cetalox (a synthetic substitute for grey amber) takes center stage in Not a Perfume. The result is elegant, pure, spicy, and completely allergen-free.
To be completely honest I was not a fan of this fragrance. I typically gravitate towards floral perfume scents and with this perfume all I could think of was how much it smelled like soap. I think the branding is unique and I like the name of the perfume but it sort of made me feel like I was going to smell a bold perfume and I was disappointed. With the full size bottle being $100 I wouldn't purchase it when it smells so bland.1
This smelled amazing in the bottle and I was so excited to try it, but when it made contact with my skin it smelled exactly like a grandma- you know, the "old people smell". Maybe it was just my body chemistry but this smelled awful on me.1
Kind of a soft scent and I am more of a citrusy and fresh kind of a girl.1
I did not like this sent. It was just not my style1
Oh so bad! The smell is just terrible. I don't even know how to describe it. Musky? It's just bad. I suppose the one pro is that this stuff LASTS. Everything that came in close proximity to it smelled for days.
As a side note- I'm a zookeeper and one of the ways we give them enrichment is through scent exploration. The stinkier the better (they love to roll around in the feces of other animals). They LOVED this perfume. So... buy it for your dog, perhaps?
Since it was "not perfume" I tried it but it reacted the same was as perfume for me by giving me a headache. The scent on someone else I may have liked.1
On me this stunk, but two of my friends liked it, so I gave it to one of them.1
This "Not a Perfume" is a perfume and it is awful. It reminds me of old lady perfume in the aspect that some old women wear perfume that has been sitting on their dresser for 30 years and it has degraded into an acrid, intensely strong perfume that was never meant to smell that way. It is super strong and has a horrible, acrid, nose crinkling, over-powering heavy stench. Don't ever wear this- especially not in public where you will be exposing innocent people to this noxious gas.1
I'm not a huge perfume perfume person, but this got the old-lady rating from my husband and parents.1
I prefer florals and sweeter scents where as this is a bit "musty" to me. I'm also not generally a fan of synthetic fragrances so this sample failed for me on multiple levels. It's also very potent and gave me a headache1
