Since arriving in the Big Apple, down-under native and Lipstick Queen founder, Poppy King has been spotting trends on the city streets. One of the nuggets of wisdom she picked up over the years? You can tell which neighborhood you’re in by the different lip shades parading down the streets. King decided to pay homage to the city’s diversity with this fetching trio. Soho is a trendy red, Upper East is a classic nude, and Central Park is a warm peach. Each set comes in a keepsake box with an Art Deco-style cover you’ll want to show off.
It's really not that hard to photograph colors accurately. You can see that, based on most other products on birchbox. None of these colors are anything like the photo. I wanted the warmer nude tones in the photo, that look like their based in a browner scheme. These are pretty terribly pink by comparison. Good quality but not AT ALL what i wanted when i spent almost $50.4
I was so excited to try this because the colors in the picture look right up my alley. But now I am so SO disappointed, because the actual colors are not at all like what was pictured and these are just.... ugly. One other reviewer described them as being "way too pink", and that's really the only way I can describe them, as well. They don't match my skin tone at all and are no where near the "trendy red", "classic nude" and "warm peach" that the description claims them to be. They do seem to be super moist and smooth on your lips, but... I just can't wear these. If I had the time in my schedule, I would send them back. It just really bums me out after hearing so much about this and it just feels like I'm playing with my grandmother's tacky lip sticks! Its a total waste of $$$.1
I love the colors this set comes with, they are very versatile. ALso the price may seem expensive but, its totally worth it. I can tell these will last for awhile.4
THE LIPSTICK WORKED OKAY BUT AFTER A WEEK THE COVER WOULD NOT STAY ON THE LIPSTICK SO IT WAS A MESS IN MY PURSE.1
I was already a fan of this line before I bought this set. I couldn't wait to try out these colors! I was not disappointed. These lipsticks are very creamy and moisturize but still have some staying power. The colors are bold yet they still work on all skin types - even the red. Give this set a shot. You won't be disappointed.5
Pros: creamy texture, goes on smooth, vibrant shades, classic colors every woman should have in their lipstick wardrobe
Cons: not as long wearing as I hoped
I would buy this product again. I would recommend this to friends. I can't wait to try other lipsticks from this brand.
These are beautiful mattes, with a strong pay-off in color and lovely texture, not drying at all. Soho is the only one I didn't love, because the color came off as more brick on me.5
Love this trio of lip colors the more color you want the more you can apply or light coverage one swipe and your good for a long time. Does not smear of fade. Very happy with this product5
I am generally more conservative about lip color and tend to stick more to a bare or natural shade, mostly because I can never find the right shades that go well with my super fair complexion. This trio worked perfectly! It wasn't in my comfort zone at all, but I grew to love it. I can't remember getting more complements on any other lipstick. It was moisturizing and not drying, didn't bleed, and was long lasting. I will definitely be getting this product again!5
Ugh, I was really expecting something special from these after reading all of the great reviews. I found ALL of the shades to be too pink. The reddest one is somewhat wearable, but the others make me look like a barbie, and not sophisticated like I was hoping for. I LOVE the medieval shade from this brand, and would buy that one again instead.2
