Known for both couture and accessible fashion, Oscar de la Renta had a knack for effortless-yet-elegant design—and the same can be said for the designer’s namesake fragrance. Inspired by the gardens of Santo Domingo, this scent has a deep floral bouquet paired with soft, woody accents. With notes of bergamot, clove, jasmine, rose, musk, and amber, this scent is perfect for both dressed-down and dressed-up days.
When I saw this coming in my Birchbox I cringed. As a child I remembered the bottle of Oscar my grandma always had. Then I made a promise to myself to be open minded, maybe it wasn't the same as what my grandma wore. As soon as I sprayed my first spray I had flashbacks of my childhood. Although I love my grandma, I don't want to smell like her. I know this scent has been around since 1977, she has used it for my entire lifetime and still does. It would be nice to get something a little more modern. It's an ok smell, but just not for me.
