I really wanted to like this eyeshadow palette, but when I got it the colors had too much shimmer for my taste. I was just looking for everyday colors to wear to work.2
They lack pigmentation across the board, and the jewel tones that I was really looking forward to using just turn out looking dark and muddy. Skip this one. There are tons of better palettes out there.3
The colors were all misaligned in the palette. That made the product look cheap overall. The colors were okay but a little more sparkly than I would have liked.3
I love the colors in this Stila palette, but like all Stila shadows I've tried, the shadow is really...grainy? I end up with shadow all over my face regardless of how careful I am when applying, which is sort of annoying.3
The colors are really lovely. I did try applying these wet and dry but I found I needed a lot of product to get the level of pigment I wanted. For sheer washes of color, these are great.3
I usually love stila products but this one sort of bummed me out. I didn't think some of the colors were as pigmented as they should be. The staying power was alright, it lasted me through most of the day over my primer.3
I bought this eyeshade set but I'm not really fond of the colors once I got it. I have blue eyes and I'm a little more conservative when it comes to colors. I thought I might step outside the box on these, but I just couldn't do it. The colors are nice, the eyeshadow goes on great and has good staying power. I think these colors or more for a younger girl (I'm 52) so I gave this set to my daughter and she loves it. I think it's a great product but just not the right colors for me.4
I am sort of that girl who sticks to her basic browns and low-maintenance makeup for blue eyes. With this fun palette I did experiment a little bit (with the guidelines provided in the sample - thank you) and love, love, love "Shimmer & glow" which I plan to continue with. I don't know that I need all of the colors here but with a little kit like this I'm free to play.4
I like this pallet overall. I've been using theBalm's Nude Tude pallet (which I bought here at Birchbox) for years, and it's still my favorite pallet overall!!! However, I wanted a pallet with a few extra color choices, and this one is nice.
Like some reviewers said, the color is definitely more of a sheer color rather than hyper-pigmented. But that's exactly what I was going for--- a sheer wash of color that I could wear to work (in a school) without looking too flashy. When I wanted more pigmentation from the colors, I drew more pigment out by 1)wetting my eyeliner brush first and 2) using a cream primer.
It was a nice touch to get the liner (which is also great) for free. It smudges nicely and doesn't seem to disappear throughout the day.
I would give it 5 stars, but I feel that this pallet could have done a few things differently. I would have liked to have gotten some type of little brush, wand, sponge applicator, etc. so there would be one in the pallet when I'm on the go. Also, when I apply this shadow dry, it does "flake" from the brush so you have to make sure your mascara is totally dry.
I like this palette, but I don't love it. I wish the colors were a little more pigmented, I feel like you really have to build the colors and there seems to be fall out with the brighter colors. Overall, a good product especially if you don't want extreme color.4
