KELLY VAN GOGH® Master Blend Color

We’re prone to changing our hair colors as often as we change our minds—one minute, we’re bottle blondes, and the next we want to go brunette. And thanks to this at-home hair dye kit, we can get pro salon results on our own time. Developed by a stylist and hair care expert, the patented blends go beyond drugstore formulas to actually repair hair as they deposits color. The four shades include Medium Neutral Brown, a rich chocolate, Light Golden Brown, a warm walnut, Medium Cool Blonde, a spot-on golden hue, and Dark Cool Blonde, a natural-looking gold.

Better than a salon

I am so happy I found Kelly Van Gogh haircolor through Birchbox. This is the best at-home hair-color I have ever used, the results are amazing.
A kit costs more than anything in the drug store, but is less than half of what I pay at the salon and the results are better and more natural than any salon color I have ever had.
I have dark hair so I use the Medium Neutral Brown 3N and my haircolor looks like it did when I was in my teens. It appears full, shiny, and healthy for a solid 6 weeks, but I could go 8 to 10 weeks before a touch up.

Home color with salon results

I loved this color. So easy to use and truly multidimensional. It does not "dry out" hair as suggested in one review but coats hair thickly. I recommend combing it through well during application to prevent that rough seeming texture. It does add a lot of texture to hair. Mine is fine naturally and so I loved the result but I could see where this could be a problem with coarser hair. The color is dark, but NOT black. All my natural auburn highlights shown through . This color gives incredible shine & depth. Excellent coverage of grey. I have already purchased another box for future use and will continue to use this product. It's a great savings compared to what I have to pay for similar results at my spa salon. This color lasts longer too. It's been 7 weeks and still going strong, beautiful and soft. I just need to touch up at roots for new grey growth.

KELLY VAN GOGH® Master Blend Color

I got curious about this product and decided to try it out. Overall I really do like this color a lot.

Biggest cons are:

-found it a bit drying for my fine hair
-doesn't come with anything extra (conditioner treatment pack not included) <== took a star off for that
-and the obvious would be the price for many people

The best thing about this is how multi dimensional the color turned out. It really came out great and my hair looked beautiful. I also had no issues with any fading. I do use a color treated shampoo and conditioner which helps but I've had other colors fade eventually anyway. This really locks in, or at least my experience has been that.

I would definitely recommend this product if the cost isn't an issue . I'd also recommend purchasing a conditioning treatment at the same time since this doesn't come with one.

As far as is it worth it? I think so and plan to continue using it.

***Just as an added reminder since I have read so many reviews where people truly didn't know , its best to stick with something within a couple shades of your natural color. If you are going from dark hair to a blonde you have to do a double processing or it's never going to look like the blonde on the box. ***
