Old makeup sticks around—and not just on our faces. Our makeup brushes need cleansing, too, and we’re not talking just a rinse in the sink. This makeup brush cleaning kit strips out oils, skin cells, bacteria, dust, dirt—and all that makeup that your handy brushes have been applying so dutifully.
I was really impressed with how soft my brushes actually still were once they were all clean again. It's a great kit and a great value!5
I thought this set would make it easier to clean my brushes, but I liked my hand washing method better. I think a brush cleaning glove would be a better option, in my opinion. The soap included in this set was difficult to rinse out of my brushes and left a residue. I do like the drying cup and brushguards though.3
Who knew how much junk was caught up in my make up brushes? YUCK! I found out the other day when I cleaned out my brushes with this kit. It works great and now I feel much cleaner when I put on make up!5
I love this kit. It includes everything you need. I'm sure you can buy brush cleaning tools from other places but I really liked having everything together and easy to use.5
Everything you need to keep makeup brushes fresh in a compact system you could even use when traveling.
Genius feature #1: the cup with the textured bottom...gentle swishing of your brushes against this surface with just a drop or 2 of the included cleanser cleans brushes quite effectively.
Genius feature #2: netted sleeves hold brushes in shape as they dry and allow for drying upside down so water does not sit inside the brush and loosen glue.
For those who mentioned that they wish more brush sleeves were included, I believe sleeves can be purchased separately.
Love this product.
It's super easy to do, and the suds are effective. My brushes were super dirty so it was a bit time consuming for me to clean them, but that's my fault :). I would definitely recommend this to my friends for cleaning their brushes. I just wish there were more of the sleeves for the bristles.5
This is a great brush cleaning system. It comes with everything you need to properly wash your makeup brushes. The soap was fragrance free which I really liked. The blotting towel is super absorbent. The system came with lots of different brush guards so all of my brushes can dry facing down. If you have spent the kind of money that I have on my brushes, and want them to last, this is a definite purchase for you.5
I bought this Brush Guard package on a whim, and boy am I glad I did. The brush guard "nets" themselves are wonderful. They are high quality and I can tell they will last for a long time. I was already in the practice of drying my brushes upside down, just never using these little nets. They really do make a difference though in keeping the shape of the bristles. I also think the cleanser is great. My only complaint is that you really have to rinse rinse rinse to make sure you're removing all of the soap. There were a few times when I rinsed really well, thought all the soap was off, but then as I was drying, found more bubbles, so I had to rinse again. This can increase the amount of time it takes to wash your brushes, but the outcome was worth it for me. The canister/cleansing cup is also great. Love the texturized bottom that helps the brushes get a great cleaning. I would recommend this in a heartbeat.5
This kit is a neat idea. It includes a cup for washing brushes, for drying (and storing) brushes, an OK brush cleanser, and some reusable brush guards.
The novelty of this kit is the washing cup. Inside the cup, the bottom is covered in small nubs. The idea being that as you swish your brush over and through the nubs, the bristles receive more cleanser and soap, thus a *cleaner* brush.
The cleanser does an average job of removing makeup and skin gunk from the brushes. A bit of cleanser can be poured into the blue cup with a splash of water and swirling the brush around the bottom of the cup will begin the cleaning process. Its is IMHO that rinsing with tap water is the only reasonable way to ensure the brush is clean of makeup goo as well as clean of cleanser.
If you are diligent about cosmetic brush care already, this may not be a great kit to quickly clean your brushes. If you *forget* to clean the brushes regularly and they are pretty gross, this kit might be a jumping off point.
Here is why. A brush used for mineral powder foundation can be considerably dirtier than it appears. With a few stirs and swishes, the water quickly will become dirty. Dump it out - add more cleanser (?) - swish and repeat...
Maybe there is still *enough* cleanser on the brush so you can just add more water to the cup. For my brushes, which can become neglected, I would have to empty and refill three or more times and still feel the need to rinse with plain water.
Another irksome quality --- the height of the cup. It is great when using it as a drying/storage cup but I do not like to completely submerge the bristle head into the water for prolonged washing. I did not find it useful for kabuki brushes (too tall) or for large, full powder brushes (to small inside cup). I think I will return to my previous method which is the same idea but works better for me.
I purchased a *rubber-y* soap dish that has large nubs/bumps on the bottom to left a bar of soap out of the water. A bit of brush cleanser in my palm, swirl bristles in palm, a bit of water in soap dish and swipe the bristles back and forth. If it needs additionally rinsing, I can hold the soap dish in one hand, the brush in the other and use running tap water to quickly finish the job.
The brush guards are cool. They are especially nice for rushes that dry weird no matter how hard you try and reshape them. I will purchase more of the brush guards separately.
It's important to keep your brushes clean to help prevent breakouts. I love this little kit! It's a must have for everyone!5
