When Ernest Supplies set out to improve upon classic shaving cream, they looked to another shower workhorse: hair conditioner. This low-lather formula contains jojoba, macadamia nut, and babassu oils, which condition beard hair for easy removal while nourishing the skin beneath. Meanwhile, cooling oils of menthol and eucalyptus eliminate razor burn and the need for an aftershave.
So I was confused. Was it a pre shave? Was it shaving cream? Or was it after shave balm? I tried using it as a shave cream and it was a little like shaving with dry soap. I like Ernst's products, this one is a big ol' pass though.1
My sample had a terrible smell after i applied it. Thought I was going to throw up. I had to try to cover it up with a different product that smelled good. Maybe my sample was tainted. Too bad because the texture was right on.1
not very interested in this product, is seems not legit and im not sure if id use it again
Although the insert in the box said it was "leak-proof," half of the sample was on the tissue that surrounded it. Did not provide a close shave at all. Would not recommend this product.1
I thought this was a really weird product. The consistency was strange - not like a normal shaving cream. That aside, I have sensitive skin and the product was so thin I got cut much more than normal while using it to shave.1
I tried it once, and I actually threw the rest in the garbage. Terrible.1
The package says:
Cooling Shave Cream
Package also says:
Conditions like a pre-shave oil.
Combats redness and razor burn like a cooling aftershave.
Well that just left me confused. I wasn't sure if it was a Shave cream, pre-shave moisturizer, or an aftershave. After staring at the thing in my cabinet for a few days, I took the plunge.
I applied a normal amount, like I would for any of my other shave creams, to the tip of my badger brush, and started whipping a lather in my cup. Nothing happened. I thought I did something wrong. I applied another pea-sized drop. Whipped some more. All that ended up happening was my overpriced badger brush became sticky from a product that wasn't supposed to be used the way I thought it should(dang).
I may try the remainder of the product, after reading some other reviews.
I was confused as to what this product even did had I not read the postcard sent by BirchBox Man, was this an after shave, shave cream, shave oil...the packaging confused me.
On to the shave, hands down: terrible stuff. It had menthol, which pretty much closed my pores and made it harder for me to shave since it caused irritation. If you have ingrown hair problems, I wouldn't recommend this stuff at all.
Did not work for me. I have thick, coarse facial hair and this was not at all effective. It doesn't lather, which is a huge minus. I couldn't get a close shave. It left a funky residue on my skin after I rinsed and the menthol is irritating. I don't recommend.1
I was looking forward to trying this shave cream, but it fell WAAAAY short of expectations. Super methol tingle - zero performance at HIGH price. $28 for 3 oz? LOL!
It applied easily, had a slippery glycerine feel, but would not let the blade glide over the skin with a two day growth. It felt as though the razor (a fresh 5blade cart) was hanging up. Not what I want. I literally stopped mid shave to rinse off and apply an old standby instead.
Sample size was pitiful compared to others sent in the past.
