Sunscreen buffs know that mineral makeup is the best way to keep skin protected from UV rays without risking any pore-cloggage. It’s no wonder, then, that Peter Thomas Roth’s Instant Mineral SPF 30 is a perpetual best seller. It provides broad-spectrum SPF 30 protection while infusing skin with anti-aging actives that even out your skin tone and prevent wrinkles before they pop up. The nifty powder brush makes it easy to apply the formula, and the translucent beige powder works on a range of skin tones, from pale to golden.
A little backstory...I originally wanted to try the Bare Minerals version but they didn't have my color. So I bought the PTR Instant Mineral SPF 30 buff brush (from a different makeup retailer). The brush was very scratchy on my face, the color was not transparent, and it smelled weird. I returned it for a refund. Bummer b/c I love the concept.1
This product simply doesn't work very well. I find that I still get sunburned on my face and chest after applying. I've used two other brands of mineral sunscreen and they're both worked so much better.1
I couldn't wait to get this product for the summer. I applied it for the first time , it made my face look white. I was disappointed in the product. I don't think it works on a range of skin tones....I have medium skin tone and it looked like power on my face.2
I stopped using this product. The few times I tried it on, it looked awful. It just looked like I didn't know how to apply my powder correctly. For me, the entire point of buying this product was for convenience/on the go...but I had to spend more time trying to make it look normal so it wasn't serving it's purpose. I don't really recommend this product for anyone. I'm sure there are better ones out there.2
The sunscreen works, but the container is awful. I had used it all of twice when it exploded inside my purse, coating everything in chalky powder. It was a waste of my money and a huge mess to clean up. I will not buy this again (and in fact, it would be great if I could get a refund or another one to try since mine was defective).2
I really enjoy this product. I love the functionality of this product: it's sheer, dry, can be applied any time of day without messing up your make-up and will still protect you from the sun. I docked two stars not because of the quality but because the container is a little rough. When you use it A LOT comes out. You have to make sure to be extra careful so as not to get it everywhere. Especially since it costs $30 for that small amount--You don't want to waste it. I hope someday they make a better applicator. The actual product is fantastic however.
I don't have a problem with the actual product. It went on nicely and had a sheer, matte finish. What I do not like about the container is that it's impossible to put the retracted brush back into the lid. I had to bend bristles to close the lid.3
On the fence here. Every time I open this product about half falls on the floor, or counter. Needs a new design.3
This instant sunscreen brush is a quick and easy way to apply sunscreen throughout the day without having that oily or heavy feeling on your skin. Such a simple way to make sure you are wearing your SPF daily!4
This product works best as dry shampoo and sunscreen for your scalp. I've never ever used it on my face to set my makeup, I consistantly use it for its properties in keeping my scalp from sunburning at the beach, while water skiing, volleyball and running.4
