MCMC founder Anne McClain was inspired by a free-spirited friend to create this ethereal perfume. Part of The Stories Collections—a group of scents inspired by McClain’s personal experiences—it’s the embodiment of feminine flair. The top note of vanilla quickly translates to a honeysuckle when it touches skin. The lasting note is peach, and its lightweight essence personifies the story of Phoenix.
Perfume samples are my favorite things to get in my boxes. It helps me venture out from my norm and find new things that I otherwise wouldn't know about. I had watched the spoiler video before getting my box and hoped I would get the MCMC Fragrance sample, sadly I was disappointed. It may just be how it smells on me, but it reminds me of an old lady scent. I had my husband smell it and he didn't like it either. Oh well, hopefully the next one will be better (I loved the Twirl by Kate Spade sample from last month or the month before).1
I absolutley hate this perfume. It reeks of baby powder mixed with something truly disguisting. I don't recommend this product at all!! DO NOT BUY!!1
However that was a mistake. I should have known to try a fragrance before purchasing. This does not work on me. I don't get vanilla, honeysuckle, or peach from it. Now I wonder if they sent me the wrong one.2
I really did not enjoy the smell of this perfume. It smelled like alcohol mixed with "old lady" scent.2
It says the lasting note is peach, and that is definitely true. I don't know if it just didn't mesh well with my body chemistry, but it seemed to me as though the peach smell overwhelmed the other elements.3
It Seemed a little strong to me when I first put it on - but about an hour later my husband loved it!3
I normally don't go in for floral scents, but this is musky enough that it's not overwhelmingly feminine and flowery. I don't pick up on the peach at all, but with the vanilla and neroli, it is still a really fresh and outdoorsey kind of smell. My only complaint is that it doesn't last very long, especially for an oil. I'm trying the accompanying perfume spray, in hopes that layering will make it last longer.4
Got this sample from Birchbox a long time ago and found a little bit as I was cleaning out my beauty drawers. I remember liking it and I still do. Because it's an oil, I expected it to have longer lasting power, but it still has much better lasting power than an EDT. At any rate, it is a sweet fragrance - the peach note lasts throughout and is a very juicy. There's a dose of muskiness to it that helps keep it from being too sweet. While I know there's aldehydes in the structure, I suspect some lactones were used to give it a more lived in, creamy quality. Even if you don't like sweet fragrances, check it out!4
I just love the long lasting flowery scent. This perfume has a very unique scent. I can put it on I'm the morning and still she'lsmell it by the end of the day.4
I loved this perfume when I received it in by Birchbox and purchased the full size. I wear it often and the scent (maybe because it's oil and not alcohol based) is very strong. My one complaint is that I often accidentally apply too much, in which case the sweetness/vanilla becomes overpowering.4
