When you need a stiff drink to unwind, nothing should come between you and your spirit of choice. Unlike ice, which spurs you to throw back your rye before it gets watered down, pre-chilled Whisky Stones® won’t melt. Made from Vermont soapstone, the non-porous cubes won’t absorb or alter the essence of whatever you’re sipping. They’re an ingenious way to keep your spirit chilled and unadulterated.
Ok, I used these with a 20yr old scotch and set it down to chill and when I returned, the cubes had thawed and soaked up much of the scotch! Oh no! Dunno that I'll be using these again. :o(1
These things really do not work. If you really want to chill your whiskey you would be better off putting the bottle in the freezer for a couple minutes before drinking or buying one of the large spherical ice ball molds. Do not waste your money on these.1
I imagined these to be able to be used instead of ice. I found that they keep liquids cool, but the liquid must be cooled first. If you want a cold whiskey, don't purchase. If you want a Manhattan, you're still left to mix over ice which waters down the beverage anyway to an extent. This would work well for vodka drinks or drinks with cold mixers, but they're called whiskey stones... The only reason I award 2 stars instead of 1 is because they do look really cool.2
I realize the reason many people prefer the whiskey stones is so that the ice doesn't dilute the alcohol. The thing is, these stones just don't chill the drink enough to make a noticeable difference. As another user recommended, you would be better of chilling the glass.2
I bought a few of these stones. I keep them in my freezer because you have to have them practically frozen for them to work. Generally they have a great look, but overall I'd prefer a spherical ice mold, obv.3
I have used the smaller rocks before, but these seem to work better. It kept my drink cold for a long time. Worked really well.4
these are great for keeping your drink cool without getting watered down. toss them in the freezer and they're ready for you to use anytime4
These stones will keep your liquid cold all night long...must buy for the avid sipper! Awesome and thank you Birchbox4
I use the stones when a friend asks for his drink neat. At first people may be skeptical about "rocks" in their drink, but almost everyone who i served these too has commented on the way they cool a drink without watering it down. Easy to maintain.4
I do wish that the rocks stayed a little colder over the course of the night. These rocks chill my whiskey just enough for the first pour, but after that you need another rock or to put them back in the freezer. The number one thing I like about these is that unlike normal ice I don't have to worry about my whiskey being watered down with the last sip.4
