We seldom go a day without makeup, which means it’s important to take extra good care of our skin. The beauty experts from Benefit devised this pore-purging facial polish to clear away all traces of product residue and breathe new life into dull skin. Use it to leave skin feeling refreshed and clarified, never dry. It’s formulated for all skin types, making it a no-brainer addition to your cleansing regimen.
I was happy to use this exfoliation after using the foaming face wash. The face wash made my skin feel so horrible I was hoping the exfoliation would take some of that away, but it did not. The smell was not as strong as the cleanser, and the beads did feel like they were exfoliating; but when I went to wash it off I had the same dragging, skipping feeling where my hand wouldn't even slide over my skin. I also felt dry and stiff and filmy with that same bad smell after I dried my face. I had to follow up with a third washing of my normal face wash to get rid of the feeling and smell. This time my hand slid over it fine and my skin felt normal again.
1If you are young, in your early twenties and have normal skin. This scrub might be just what you need.
If you are in your thirties and have oily skin, you might get away with this product.
If you are of any age with dry skin, this probably will not suit you.
I find the particles to be non-uniform which was not a sensory delight for me. I did not feel that the exfoliating particles were in enough concentration to whisk away my dead skin cells. The vehicle for the mechanical exfoliators was drying to my already dehydrated skin. This may be a benefit for someone with normal/oily skin.
This would be a good starter product for a new teen! Safety scrub! That's it! This would not harm young skin! :)
I don't like Benefits exfoliator. It's really gritty, like sand. I don't like this extreme of an exfoliator, they always make my skin red. I like buffing beads in a exfoliator or a chemical exfoliator. I don't like the scent of this product either. The sample size is way too small.
1When first squeezed from the container, the product looked moderately grainy. Applied to my face, however, it felt thick and coarse, and it dragged in clumps rather than smoothing easily across my skin. The fragrance was earthy with dirt undertones. Fortunately, my skin didn't react to the scent, or to the blue-grey color of the product (which might be natural to the ingredients rather than created with dyes).
Taken altogether, I'd describing using this product as a "homegrown spa" experience, like scrubbing my face with mud from the yard and bits of gravel from the driveway. Though it might have resulted in an uncomfortable overall skin "polishing" (after a lot of rinsing), it was not refreshing, and not worth repeating.
