We like peppermint in just about anything so it’s no surprise that we’re fans of this tingly cool shampoo. (We’re not the only ones—it’s been a best seller for years.) The gentle formula combines natural peppermint extract with amino acid-based cleansing agents to balance, clean, and clarify all hair types. It’s gentle enough for daily use—a relief, since we’re addicted!
I lovedd the peppermint scent and had high hopes for it. But after using it this morning and applying a deep conditioner after, I was shocked to find my hair was dry and unmanageable for the rest of the day! Perhaps it was the combination of products but I have never had an issue with my deep conditioner or any other shampoo. Unfortunately I will not be purchasing this. Hopefully it is better on other hair types!1
The scent of this shampoo is very mild; and I confess, I love a stronger scent when you are talking about an essential oil like peppermint. It didn't tingle on my scalp like I would expect from a shampoo that is mint-based, and as stated on the bottle , it didn't really lather than much. Which is fine - it means lack of harmful sulfates and foaming agents, but I've still used better shampoos that were sulfate free and lathered better.
My hair felt clean - nothing special. However, my scalp began to itch in a way that tells me I was not allergic, but just mildly sensitive to something in the ingredients - not mint, since I have used mint-based shampoos before with no problem.
The sample size was perfect, the packaging was a bit plain, the texture of this shampoo is clear, and the scent is very mildly minty.
There just was nothing "special" or "unique" about this product in a very competitive market. To improve, they could use more essential mint oils to get the scalp nice and refreshed, spruce up the packaging even a teensy bit so it isn't so generic and boring, and there are definitely natural ingredients that could add more lathering.
I love trying new hair products, but unfortunatly I don' t like the smell or taste of peppermint. I like clean smells for my hair and don't think I will enjoy using this shampoo.1
I had high hopes for this fresh-smelling shampoo, but it made my dry and frizzy hair even drier and frizzier. It might work better for oily or limp hair, but dry hair beware.1
Definitely pepperminty shampoo. Your hair will feel great afterward, but it is defitely a thick-feeling product while applying to head.2
I will honestly say that I only tried this product once. The scent was okay when I took a whiff from the bottle but once I started lathering it in my hair I couldn't handle it. I know this won't be the case for everyone but for me it must have just had a bad association.2
I'm sure this product did a fine job of cleaning my hair but I couldn't even tell it was a peppermint shampoo, no sensation whatsoever, I use a tea tree oil shampoo regularly and it is much more invigorating.2
I was really excited to sample this shampoo as the smell is wonderful. However after using the shampoo I noticed that my scalp was starting to dry out. I do not see myself purchasing a full size bottle of this product. Overall the shampoo is not horrible; it's just not for me.2
This product met my needs. I am unlikely to make it a regular purchase though, considering the availability of better alternatives.2
Left my hair feeling oily and not clean feeling smell not my style2
