We like peppermint in just about anything so it’s no surprise that we’re fans of this tingly cool shampoo. (We’re not the only ones—it’s been a best seller for years.) The gentle formula combines natural peppermint extract with amino acid-based cleansing agents to balance, clean, and clarify all hair types. It’s gentle enough for daily use—a relief, since we’re addicted!
I purchased this shampoo along with the cilantro conditioner after just reading the ingredient list for the conditioner, and seeing that it was sulfate free. Unfortunately the shampoo does have sulfates in it, as I discovered after I used it. That being said, if your skin doesn't have an irritation to sulfates, it is an awesome shampoo (my hair looked and felt great, though my skin was burning). I really do wish I could use it, and I'm keeping it around for guests to use.
I do still use the cilantro conditioner of the same brand, which is sulfate free, and have learned to not cut corners when shopping for new products.
OK… So I was scared to try it at first, because when I opened it, it smelled a little bit like toothpaste. And when I accidentally got some on my finger, it felt a little bit like a cross between thinned toothpaste and oily lotion. Not necessarily horrible, but not wonderful either. I used it twice, because I hadn't been able to shower in a couple of days. After I got it into my hair, and leathered up, it felt nicer. It got my hair very squeaky clean and fresh feeling, but it didn't really do anything special to it. It didn't really help get rid of any friz or make my hair especially smooth or silky… And I was kind of hoping that when my hair dried, it would dry curly like it used to, or at least wavy. I don't put a lot of product in my hair, and I don't use a lot of heating stylers. I also usually let my hair air dry. Are used to have naturally curly hair, and I know that hair changes as people get older. It's funny, because I was trying to expect nothing at all to happen, but was hoping for too much. It landed somewhere in the middle… Maybe a tiny bit less. Got my hair cleaner than a lot of other shampoos. But I am a little disappointed that it didn't bring back my curly hair. Therefore, all in all, it's a really clean, pretty nice smelling shampoo, but it doesn't really have any exquisite or special properties, and didn't do anything phenomenal to my hair other than get it really clean.3
This was a Christmas gift for my wife. I love the smell of our bathroom after she's used it. She requested it so she gives it her approval.5
This is just simply the best shampoo I have ever use. It only takes a super small amount and lathers insanely well. The smell was not really overwhelming by any means and not sure if the was really any tingling either. It rinses pretty easily despite the later. The end result is just crazy good. My hair has so much body, it bounces when I walk and the shine is unbelievable. This is just a perfect shampoo all around and the whole family can use it too.5
Was really looking forward to feeling those tingles and sensory overload of peppermint from using this, but fell short of some of the other peppermint shampoos I have used.3
This shampoo is just putrid. It feels like a lotion when applying it to your hair and scalp. My hair felt horrible and unclean after it dried. Yuck!1
Malin + Goetz Peppermint shampoo is a great everyday shampoo. It's not overly minty or tingly. I hate to be the odd man out, but...it's good...not spectacular.4
I was really excited to sample this shampoo as the smell is wonderful. However after using the shampoo I noticed that my scalp was starting to dry out. I do not see myself purchasing a full size bottle of this product. Overall the shampoo is not horrible; it's just not for me.2
I don't know what happened, I was getting great products, purchasing what I liked. I've accepted that I'll never get to "choose" what item I want in my box. (email comes at 11am, I open it right away but everything is sold out". But Peppermint Shampoo, Flower soap, and 2 pair of Pink polka dotted socks? The only other product was cologne, it was ok.. but that's it. This month feels like a waste, I'll be giving it all to my girlfriend, its all far too feminine for me.1
This product is not for all hair types. I only got one wash out of the sample, but I have long thick hair. The one wash was enough to let me know the statement that this shampoo is gentle enough for all hair types does not apply to my hair. After washing my hair it felt extremely dry, but I thought my usual conditioner would correct the problem. It didn't. I had to deep condition my hair to get it back to a manageable state. The olive oil was not enough to overcome the peppermint. The shampoo wasn't as minty as I expected, but the smell was pleasant. I did feel like it took longer to rinse this product than my usual shampoo. MALIN+GOETZ has some amazing products and I own a few, but this shampoo will never be one of them.1
