I was optimistic about this product when I saw the claims to plant-based ingredients, but unfortunately it is full of synthetic fragrance. I was so optimistic upon getting my February box that I went ahead and tried the product anyway, even after seeing fragrance was in the ingredients list--I was excited to try something new! Plus, I've used products in the past with fragrance that wasn't overly perfumey, but just added a pleasant scent. Well the fragrance was so strong that I started getting a headache within 10 minutes after my shower. It was as if my head was sprayed with an entire bottle of perfume, and I couldn't get away from a whiff of it every second. Way worse than any other shampoo/conditioner I've ever used--even ones that are not supposedly natural/plant-based. I went back and re-washed my hair with my usual shampoo and conditioner to try and get most of the strongest fragrance out of my hair.
Don't let companies fool you into how great they are for the planet or your health. One look at the ingredients list will tell you everything you need to know. The "plant-based" ingredient in this product is coconut oil, and upon a closer look, the bottle says "with plant-based cleansers" just meaning it has some or one in there. If you want something more natural, look for longer "free from" lists and in particular ones that also include "free from phthalates" which is the toxic part of synthetic fragrance.
